Bleak times for dealers?
I have received a letter from a Honda dealer in the North West (not my local dealer who appears to have loads of second hand Civics on his forecourt). The letter refers to a previous one from the same dealer who was offering up to 5 years Complimentary Servicing or a so called low finance rate of 7.9% APR on selected used Civics.
The letter says the dealer has secured from Honda UK 10 additional support packages. The packages have been transferred to the dealership from other dealers in the Honda UK network and are available on a first come, first served basis. Yes, they are dangling the carrot and touting for business, but that is what they do, we all know that. Is this a reflection on the current market and has any other forum member been apprised of this offer? |

when you say 10 additional support packages, what exactly does that entail? Thanks. |

Blader, thank you. It's not what I say, it is what the dealer says. Obviously Honda UK are subsidising or underwriting dealers to sell (used) cars by this promotion. One deal/offer = one support package from Honda UK. That is my interpretation. I would expect more as the economic climate worsens as I fear it will in the short term.

Got my type R 3 weeks ago and it was obvious then they needed to make sales.
I got a really good trade in on my 2.2ES £14000, paid 15000 for it a year earlier, they also put mats in, swaped my bluetooth kit over FOC too. So now seems a good time to try and get them to do a deal. |

And as the picture unfolds there will be more ...believe it or not... those who are left will be able to offer a more efficient , reliable , friendly , sales , trade in , service .... because simply put.... there will be less dealers chasing the bucks , and ready to give you.... the consumer the best deal out there at that time as there will be less competition to secure the deal ...so they will be chasing your money ...ON A STEEL HORSE I RIDE

Thank you Palindrome. Did it not get to the point they, the dealers, were almost giving Citroens away? Joking apart, the overheads at a large dealership must be horrendous and as harleyfatboy says, a lot more will probably go to the wall before the financial climate get better. In my book it will get a lot worse before it gets better unfortunately. It will affect us all in some way or other.

If you are serious then just shop around and get the message over to a selection of dealers. If you are buying new with no part exchange, then you can broaden your horizons. If you have the resources I believe you can obtain a really good deal. A tip if I may, wait towards the end of a month when dealers are desperate to achieve the sales targets. Good luck.
