Mats and Anchors - the true E! story
I went to the dealer to get the mat anchors they forgot to fit today, and I finally got the anchors installed, only to find out (when looking closer) that they were not the Honda Original ones (2008 version). When I got home and lifted the mat I was almost outraged to find a big hole in the carpet. Appearently the guy had cut a hole in the carpet at the wrong place and then moved it.
As I got a set of original Anchors to the rubber mats I had ordered I removed the crap installed and to my relief I found that the holes he had cut was where the original anchors are supposed to be fitted. However, the hole had been made bigger to accomodate the junk installed. I went ahead and installed the original anchors where they are supposed to go and the anchor baseplate covered up the hole more or less completely. To my (and the dealers) relief I might add. Because if they had cut a hole in the carpet that was not going to be there I could have cut the Galaxy grey 5D they had in their hall to shreds in retaliation! I was mad as hell as you might imagine, but as it cannot be seen unless you pull the anchor to lift it a bit I am inclined to let it go. But I will never, ever let them do anything else on the car. I will service it somewhere else - Far FAR away. In the end there was one good thing about it though: I got the rubber mats for free for the mess they had made. |

On my car the anchor base plate (green arow) is under the carpet with the vertical pins sticking thru small holes in the carpet. They must have used the chief apprentice !! fitting mats should be an easy job. I find the rubber mats are much better for driving as your heels dont dig in. |

It is a bit different on the 2008 model. The mat anchor consist of two plastic thingies with a rectangular base plate.
On the fourth picture you can acatually just see the hole the mechanics dude made. I moved the plate forward a little bit since I took the picture and now it is harder to spot it. edit: I will also use the rubber mats as winter mats.
