Honda Happiness on a Type R

Hi,

I am at the stage where my ability to buy honda happiness fixed price servicing expires. The dealer i bought it from is quoting £500, should i go for it? what are the chances on 3 years servicing costing less than £500 as im not sure if i will keep it longer than that.

Also has anyone been able to get any better prices or is the £500 fixed across all dealers?

Cheers

Matt

Go for it, it did, it's a bargain.

The first two services are about £450. Have a look in the wiki at servicing costs.

Service Cost - Civinfo Wiki

The £500 is a fixed price from Honda across all dealers.

I'll only keep mine for three years too, but it is a great selling feature as it is transferrable.

Then the second one is a 'biggie' and will cost you £300-£320

I'm planning on buying this soon, when I get the funds for it.
Phoned a local dealer to get prices for 1st, 2nd & 3rd years services.
£145, £195 & £145 thats £485 for the first 3 years, so years 4 & 5 work out for free. And as mentioned it can be passed on with the car when you sell it to the next owner.

I went for this servicing deal. At £500 it is good value so I doubt you will get it any cheaper.

Good value

Me too.
If you can find the extra, do so.
Peace of mind for up to 5 years.

£195 is cheap for a second service. I've been quoted £300 for that one and there is a price in the wiki of £299.

I only intend to keep my R-GT for 3 years also but what are the service intervals, 12k? If so, then with my mileage I will probably use up the 5 services in the first three years so it is an absolute bargain!

Yeah, its 12500 miles or 1 year whatever comes first. So if your doing huge miles a year then its well worth the dosh.

I just bought it too. I was quoted the following prices for the first 3 services:

£198
£325
£225

Apparently service 2 is major as tappets need adjusting amongst other things.

I only intended on keeping the car for 2.5 years, therefore only needing 2 services, but at £500 it's still cheaper.

Honda are also pushing their fixed price repair scheme - Honda (UK) - Cars - Owner - Parts And Servicing - Fixed Priced Repairs

Stuff like, MOT £45, pads £85, timiing belt £200, battery £65 etc. Very good price compared to normal dealer pricing. Labour all included.

I have opted for the £500 pound up-front payment too when i bought my car. I do approx 20,000 miles a year so i think it's a bargain. I was told over the 5 services it works out about half price.

I'm on 11,100 miles now since 18th January so my first service will be in about 4 weeks time.

I bought one a year ago and to date I have paid R3000(£187) for brakes and discs(bad driving) and today i get a call to say that my clutch, pressure plate are shot R7000 (£430). So much for Honda's build quality.

Quick question, how long after you have purchased the car can you wait before taking up the offer?

I am thinking about it, but not sure how long I will keep the car, but maybe worth it for the resale value?

Thanks.

As Angie says it's 8 months or 8000 miles, and it's only available if you bought the car new or it was an ex-demonstrator.
