naive dealer question!
so if i go to my local dealer, am i limited to the models they have on site?
as mentioned in other threads, i'd ideally like a Civic Sport / ES / EX in galaxy grey... are they able to source other vehicles, would that be an extra charge, etc? thank you! |

From my experience, if its a fairly large dealership franchise, they will hold a central database with all cars and can transfer a car you like to your local dealer. They ought to have a print out of all the cars available as well for you to take away.
When I bought my Civic from Francis of Leicestershire, they also sell other makes such as Seat etc and were able to give me a list of all the other makes...and all of this for free. Good luck! |

If you go to a dealer that has other Honda dealerships within their group, if they don't have what you are looking for in stock and another one of their dealerships does, then I am sure they would not charge you to get the car to them for you to look at.
My two local dealerships have loads of used civics in stock at the moment, and I think in the current economic climate they will be very keen to sell you a car. |

ANY honda dealership worth their hide, will be able to get you ANY honda of your choice at no extra cost.
The only time their may be a charge incurred is if the costs involved in transferring a car from one end of the country to another become prohibitive. If they say they can't, ask them why - they are just being lazy and shouldnt deserve your business |

cheers guys, good to know!
any advice you can offer when 'dealing with dealers' would be useful! I'm not after haggling down the price to silly money, they have to make a living too But hopefully just being friendly, I'll be able to get a good deal that make both parties happy! I bought mine used from Phoenix Honda in Linwood. My car was sourced from Honda UK and was an ex corporate car. It was transported up and I still managed to get a fair bit off the asking price, plus my cherished transfer paid for. I bought the car unseen which I've never done before- but it was fine as i was as described otherwise there is no obligation to buy. If it's not as described then you can walk away. Took a couple of weeks to source but I was prepared to wait to get the car I wanted.

I find if you do a bit of homework first, and find out how much the car you want and how much your old car is worth it gives you a good platform to start from. If you take a parkers or glass's guide at least it shows you know what you are talking about and aren't just making figures up.
