Trading-in!
What's the general rule of thumb regards trade-in anyone?
I have been offered a price for the car I'm trading in, written into the quotation. The dealer made the offer, based on all the info I gave him. He hasn't actually viewed it! Has anyone actually been quoted a price for trade-in, without the dealer actually viewing the car in question? |

I have had this before, all they usually do after that is give the car a quick once over to make sure yhe facts you have told them regarding mileage, condition etc are correct.
Different places do it different ways, also often depends on how badly they want a sale! |

Yes I have.If your car is as honestly described,I would say there should,nt be a problem from a bona fide dealer.
I think the internet has encouraged dealers to work in this fashion,to persuade people down to their forecourts, which may be a fair distance for the interested party to travel to. |

My dealer gave me a good price for my 04' civic sport against my new R-GT, they never looked over the car once!
The truth is dealers will stick it on their forecourt at a higher price and sell it due to the fact they can offer finance, 1 year warranty etc which prospective private sellers cannot. Plus they make enough off new sales as well, so don't let them tell you they only make £200 on a new car, it's salesman talk, or shall I say greed! |

Thanks!
The car is as I've described. However, since the quote, there's the obvious extra miles I've put on the clock, as I do a fair few being based on the road. Second, the car has picked up a couple of minor faults. Looks like front pads need changing, well that's what my screen has started telling me. I'm loathe to do anything, as it goes next Monday/Tuesday. |

It's just a bit annoying when you have really looked after it for 3 years and they aren't even interested in walking outside to have a look |
