1st service takes no time at all, an hour or so.

the courtesy car totally depends on the dealership, usually a jazz sized car, we have two jazzes and two micras.

make sure you've booked it in advance as they get heavily booked too - ours are currently booked for three weeks in advance.

if its a motab dealership then they have to have autos available, whether of not its avialable for when you have yours booked in is another thing.

best thing is to call the dealer when you book it in and explain your requirements, you'll be fine.

If you live not too far from your dealer this might be an option: my dealer is popping round to the house wednesday morning to collect the car for its first service and dropping it off later in the day.I've left the spare keys with them so they know they'll be ok taking the car if know one's in.

When I had my first civic serviced , and later some warranty work, I had a 'basic' 1.4 civic as a courtesy car both times, so depends on your dealership. But no harm in 'booking' a courtesy car in advance, ie when you arrange the service.

Do you have to pay £10 for the insurance, I was told that I had to provide my own insurance or pay £10 for theres, even though its for work covered under warranty?

As quoted earlier, its quite usual for this to happen, all depends on whether the dealership has insurance for loan cars or not. Many dont as the blanket policy can be exhorbitantly high. Nothing to do with what work is being done on your car.

When I got Millie & the Honda Happiness Service Pack, I arranged for the Stealer to come to my place to pick up the car when the servicing was required and return it when finished.

Never thought about having a loan vehicle tho'

......might give them a ring next time!

I got an equivalent2.2 Civic when mine went to Gordons Bolton, they only charge mileage too for it's use. I filled it up with Diesel for them so that's all it cost me. Seems they try to have like-for-like loan cars.

I've currently got a new 1.4 on loan to me and I was told to not worry about all the costs as these had been taken care of (then they were promptly crossed out!!). It's really nice having a new car again with the new car smell!!

[quote=Charles_Harding;205939]When I got Millie & the Honda Happiness Service Pack, I arranged for the Stealer to come to my place to pick up the car when the servicing was required and return it when finished.

Question then for Dan
How does customer control what dealer driver does in his car ?
Do you bring a check sheet with you and walk round the car with customer ?

I would insist on this

Who's car do you use to get driver to customers house to collect his car for servicing?

I suspect you use another customers car to deliver driver, and collect at end of day. I suspect my car has been used for this purpose and was damaged in process (Kerbing, steering geometry) I always have a quick walk round when I collect from servicing but never inspected the alloys as I didn't imagine it had been off premises, just checked for paint/bodywork & interior damage. I Couldn;t prove anything after the event. Last week some ham fisted mechanic had messed up the leather on my gear knob, took me about 15 mins to correct it, luckily i could. I fail to see how someone driving into workshop and onto ramp could apply so much force to a gear stick ! Again I think its been out, I keep meaning to record mileage when I leave it with them.

How does customer control what dealer driver does in his car ? short of asking the service manager that the car does not leave site and recording the mileage, you cant.
Do you bring a check sheet with you and walk round the car with customer ? When you drop your car off, there should be some sort of check sheet and a quick walk round with the customer/service reception to agree the condition. Bear in mind a vast amount of people 'dont have the time' to wait around.

I would insist on this - rightly so, as i say, shouldnt need to insist, it should be done anyways

Who's car do you use to get driver to customers house to collect his car for servicing? Usually, the use mine!!! we wouldnt use a customers car to go and collect as this is usually done first thing in the morning when the cars are coming in. The only time this is doen is if we have a car that is in for work that requires a road test (squeaks/rattles etc).

.
They always, well twice so far, used an Accord to transport the 'engineer' to pick up Millie.

......but they always take the Accord away with them, and my Millie!

Millie's mileage, checked BEFORE they pick the car up, usually has about 4 miles extra than the return trip to the stealers on it when eventually returned.

......delivered to my door.

......things don't get much better than this!
