Mine has Silver Seal treatment. I paid £234.00 for it done at the dealers. It comes with a three year warranty and a bag full of cleaning products. I tend to keep my cars for a few years so didn't mind paying out. Like Danko said, it does seem to make it easier and quicker to wash the car.

I agree with what TTDeggs said though - I do want a result without too much effort.

Danko - seriously, you too can get the same affect with some decent wax...

but see my post above - it's all in the prep - there is NO point adding any sort of wax / superguard / amour plastic sheets or whatever unless the car is spotlessly clean first.

There's no denying that there is a difference! Thats for sure!

The difference is in what price you pay and how well you look after the car in the long term. All these products have to be reapplied to keep the same effect but if you're like me you probably don't bother!!

I'll be back with some links for you Danko.

Here is another option you can try.

Its cheap and lasts longer than Superguard or Diamondbrite.
This should last for around 12 months as opposed to 4-6 months.

Ok, I will buy some products, Atm, Im using the Merguiers Wax.

Shall I buy some wax instead?

But the Super Guard as a nice layer of surface ontop of the paint work, I felt my car today, and it like grips to your finger tips, and I did the same with my parents car, and its just glides along smoothly, due to the Super Guard.

Stuck on what to do....

Also, IWANTACIVIC where did you get your Civic Super Guarded?

Meguiars are pretty decent too (but can be pretty pricey!). Their website can be found {url=http://www.meguiars.co.uk/]here[/url]

It might be worth reading this article on sealant protection

You can also buy some blackfire paint sealant from the same website here

Blackfire comes highly recommended and I know a lot of people who use it. It lasts longer and acts better than superguard and it is reasonably priced too.

All you have to do is buy the products yourself then pay a professional valet to apply them. Thats all the dealers do except they charge between £200 and £300 for the privilege!

I can't stress enough how much a rip-off superguard is. Firstly it is overpriced as it only costs the dealer £25 and Secondly it isn't even that good compared to other products!! Also, don't be fooled into thinking it will have any effect on its resale value. Trust me, it won't!

All you need is a paint sealant or special wax and some interior leather (and carpet) treatment. Then hire a professional to apply the products for you!! This will cost you a fraction of the price of superguard and will give better results!

TBH you don't even need to hire someone to apply the products, you could DIY!

To be fair, with the dealer, you get a kit with it which consist:

Shampoo (£10)
Wheel cleaner (£10)
Interior cleaner (£10)
Sponge (£5)
Leather chamey (£10)
Kit Bag (£10)
These prices are just estimate, so total is about £55

Then they have to order it for you, and charge you abit more then the price they pay, so say about £40-50.

Then Labour - 2-3 hours? £200

And some other addictional charges etc... £50...

Sort of works out to about £350ish...

I didn't make the cost up!!

It only costs the dealer £25!!

They don't pay retail for the products. All in all it costs them that much for the products. As for cleaning, they have valeters on site who are payed by the day (not by the car) and it does not take them that long to apply the products!!

If only they took that long to apply the products, then maybe you wouldn't get so many annoyed customers complaining of chipped paint work just weeks after superguard was supposed to have been applied!!

Seriously though, it is a massive scam which I wouldn't be surprised to see on watchdog in the near future. It's overpriced and the dealerships don't always apply the product correctly. Reasons for this is that it is often applied once the dealers have taken your money so they don't care and sad to say, they don't always hire professional valeters. Some do hire professionals but many do not.

If you do decide to go down the superguard route (and it looks like you're swaying that way) then make sure you get a good price for it. Also, make sure they get a professional valeter to apply the products; ask for a receipt from the valeter and a phone number if they're outsourced. Go through it with a fine tooth comb. You can even test it by taking a bottle of water with you and squirting some water over the paint work just to make sure the water beads off the surface. It may even be worth asking to view the superguarding process. That way you know they're doing it! The whole process shouldn't take much longer than 40mins (not including the initial cleaning process, which you don't really need to see!)

P.S. Nice try, trying to justify the cost!!

You should get a job as the Superguard spokesman!!

Not backing Super Guard up, as I know your super Anti Super Guard, but If you break down the price, I guess that's what it will be? I know Dealerships get stuff on trade, as you said, £25 for the lot...

Hmm.... Maybe Il just order some nice wax/clay, and Il apply some tomorow, as my new wheels will be fitted so a nice time to make the car as new

What's the best product that's available at halfords?

Like I said, I've currently got the Maguiers Wax.

Tell me the best way to apply this stuff... maybe I do it differently..
