What do you guys expect from a part exchange? Shall I push for a certain figure on it?

I ignored that guff from the first dealer as they would only give £300 off, saying that they would be losing money if they gave me any more off, so I went to their other branch at the otherside of town and got £1642 off the car with the extras. I did phone round a few to see who had the best deal and then got an even better deal when I went in and I had to wait 4 months for my car.

I'm sure that you will get a deal, but in the current climate they may not be able to offer the discounts that some other dealers do or what some of us got a year ago (especially since the price of the car and the Alloys have gone up). It all depends

Arrrhhh! now thats the secret.

A dealer will always treat a purchase and part exchange as one deal. So....

Know what the dealer will give for your car (parkers, glasses etc). Know what you want to pay for the new car, take one from the other and thats the bottom line to aim for. Remember, the dealer will want to make money from the new car sale and then again from the sale of your old car.

Also, if a new dealer is opening up near you lookout for grand opening deals and specials - they need to develop a client base and will do a lot to get clients through the doors until they are established

Funny how its only the dealers being negative on this thread. And for the record guys I did get a discount of 11% on my car so it shows it can be done you just have to haggle hard and squeeze them till it hurts!!!

Hi mrh339

I am under no illusions that you did'nt get your discount. However , there are normally circumstances like cars that are pre-price increase , over age stock cars from Honda. I would say it is misleading to say that it is something that can be acheived , but then I may be wrong

Neil

Sorry Neil but I still urge the OP to haggle hard and not be fobbed off, there is no need to accept a pre reg or old stock to get a good deal. How can it be misleading to say a discount can be achieved when it can and has been? Just haggle hard and make the dealers work hard for your money!!!

It is a fantasy that Honda Dealers make a fortune (which is a statement that I've often seen on this forum). As for accessories the RRP that we all charge only allows for a percentage of the labour time that it actually takes to fit that part.
If we don't make a profit we go bust it is as simple as that, so why should it be a sin for us to do so?
We are nice people so give us a break!!!!!
