mrh339 I think thats a bit uncalled for.

We all know that in life to survive people need to make money, it has been explained to you that after overheads have been deducted whats left is the profit to the company or person. If you do not like this then I strongly suggest you go find somewhere else out there to live.

You may wish to take a look at the recent price increases to the Civics due to the price of EVERYTHING going up! So the price you and I paid will be different to what someone else pays because the starting mark has increased. Take for instance postwriters choice, for me the starting price was £18627 for the car & £950 for alloys, now its £19000 for the car & £1250 for alloys so thats already a difference of £637 between someone buying 8 months ago and someone buying now.

If the deals are not there to be had then they are not there and no amount of 'Squeezing' is going to get what you want. END OF!

No, just a perfectly reasoned response which you cannot/will not comprehend.

They have done nothing to you. I believe in treating others as you wish to be treated and as far as I can see you want to be treated like **** because thats how you are treating them!

Looks like I have got you dealers rattled, If you think that urging a fellow forum member to push for a good deal means that I should leave the country then you are mad. Cars are not selling and Honda are still producing the civic in huge numbers so there has got to be a large stock of unsold cars building up and therefore there must be deals to be done to shift the metal,Simple as that. This country in in a recession and large purchases like houses and cars are slowing down hence the large house builders shedding jobs at an alarming rate and its probably only matter of time until job cuts hit the motor industry too.

SO YOU SUGGEST THAT HOUSING DEVELOPERS AND CAR DEALERS LOSE MONEY HAND OVER FIST IN ORDER TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS? WHERE IS THE SENSE IN THAT?

A point has been reitterated to YOU and others that there are limited deals to be had on cars in order for the dealerships to continue to make a profit and be able to run a viable business. THATS LIFE!

And I have mentioned in other posts that guys from the Honda Garage in Stirling have been made redundant as there is not enough sales to keep on some memebers of Staff, but I tell you what they should start selling cars at a loss in order to satify yourself and then make more people redundant?

Anyway back to the topic, as you will see Karobonas the price at which a lot of us purchased cars and what you may get will be different due to the price hike.

You may find a dealer like Bassets that sometimes have cracking deals on stock ready to go. I really hope that everything goes well with the car hunt and you get what you like at a good price.

Looks like I've got to this thread after all the interesting comment has been removed..!

I managed to squeeze another £400 out of my dealer in relation to the valuation on my rather tatty part-ex when I bought my S-GT a couple of weeks ago. I also haggled their finance deal down to a much more resonable rate. I wonder if I could have done even better, as they did seem pretty keen to close the deal that day (close to the month end).

I guess it all depends on how much you want the car and how much hassle/shopping around you're prepared to do. Personally I'm a bit lazy so I probably don't deserve the very best deal there is, as I'm not prepared to do all the too-ing and fro-ing trying to squeeze the last few pennies out of a deal.

You'd need to do a lot more than post your comments on a Forum to rattle a dealer my friend, especially as, having read your comments you clearly have displayed that you know nothing about the Motor trade.

You wildly assume that with a potential recession coming and the market being somewhat deflated that manufacturers will continue building cars at the same rate?? mmm dont think so. In the same vein that housing companies are slowing down, redesigning and even cancelling building projects, they've learnt by mistakes in the past and certainly dont do it again.

However, if you know different, please inform us all as to where these fields full of unwanted civics are, I could do with some more stock.

I'd be interested in your views, especially if you can keep them without any personal comments or insults being thrown about.

Exclamation Errmm ...

That "mrh339" has now had several personal comments removed by "Pottsy" does not sit well with me at all ...

Spirited debate ? - yes please, and more of it ! ...

Sarcasm \ scepticism \ cynicism - indeed to goodness ! ...

Wild disagreement on some issues \ beliefs - of course ! ...

BUT - "knocking" one another ? - NO THANK YOU ...

Guys... I appreciate all your comments but I did not want this post to turn into a one of conflict.

On topic.... I've seen an Alabaster Silver Ex Demo, 24 miles only, Sat Nav HFT registered at end of April, not been test driven as of yet ( I will be the first, next sat). How much do you reckon I could get this for?? Dealers, what do you reckon?

p.s. The dealership was a quiet little honda one with 3 staff and 5 cars in its showroom. I was thinking this may help me get a better deal on the car. They seemed like they wanted to get rid of it as well!

We would sell that car for about £19499 inc 6 months tax, by the way it will be a pre-reg not an x demo.
Cheers.....Tony..
