Tow bars

Please can you quote for the cost of a removable towbar with full electrics, please. Fully fitted with dreaded.

If possible, and this is really asking now... Have you got any pictures of the 'bar fitted and removed? If that makes sense!

Thanks very much in advance.

Is it any cheaper with single electrics ? as all i want to tow is a trailer , am i right in thinking the second socket if for powering your caravan . also does the sockets move up under bumper mate got tow bar on his ceilca and after u demount the tow ball the sockets flip back up under bumper style

Personally, I would get one fitted by an aftermarket TowBar dealer. We recenlty had one fitted to our X-trail, it was a third of the price, and fitted by people who do it all day, every day. Not some mechanic who does one in a blue moon. Many dealers will just get it fitted by a specialist anyway, and then charge you the middle-man fee. I was also told be wary of the 'mobile fitters', best go to a workshop in my opinion. MAke sure they are part of the National Trailer & Towing Association http://www.ntta.co.uk/default.htm

Honda do not make the towbars, they will be re-badged.

Try here as a starting point, i believe they will fit it as well if required http://www.towequipe.co.uk/

Looks like they do a detachable for the new civic;

Thanks for the info, Geoff.

It had crossed my mind to get it done elsewhere, but I thought the safest option would be my Honda garage. I guess not!

I have had a look on the site above, but that is the price for just the tow bar, so how do I get it fitted? Could that cost as much as the 'bar?

Bungle,

Start here

I called them and asked for a reputable fitter in my area. Was very pleased. They even fixed the poorly fitted reverse sensors, that the Nissan Dealer Specialist had fitted for us.

I'm moving this out of the John Pease section. If you want to start a topic about which tow bar is best, then fine, that's okay. This moved thread will be considered to be that.

Please try and be considerate of our corporate members when discussing things within their "area".

Any problems, PM me.

I know - it's okay though, it wasn't clear so wanted to set a precedent. I am sure Biker1 understands...

For the benefits we get of commercial involvement, there are some drawbacks, of which this is one.

I think the 'problem' is that when you search for new posts, it takes you straight to the last post that you have not read. This does not indicate which forum the thread is in.

Agreed, it's unfortunate but no harm done
