If you can add someone to your policy on the off chance they may use your car then do it! I have both my parents on mines as I car share with my Mum and my Dad likes to use my car when I'm not about as its a change from his M3 and reminds him of being 21 again.

Also its worth exploring what you put down as your occupation, mines can be deined by a whole host of things all meaning the same, but some descriptions can increase your insurance whilst others can decrease it.

If I put in i'm an Analyst it increases my premium by £50 from the quote when I put in i'm a systems analyst (cause thats what I am)

In the words of Tesco's 'every Little Helps!'

I've got the missus insured on mine & it doesn't make any difference at all. I know people who've insured theirs & it's gone down a few quid, but didn't for me for some reason (even though she's older & been driving longer).

Don't particularly like her driving it but it comes in handy if I fancy a drink at the football...

Ah you see some insurance companies ask what you are studying. When my sister was at Uni she was asked what she was studying (nursing) and this made a difference also.

I expect if the add ons were included/excluded on these posts there would be quite a difference in the actual premium

Just a thought....... For those of you who are unaware. I get my insurance by going via quidco.com website. In a nutshell you still end up at the car insurance site you were looking at but via a host site (quidco). When you register and purchase via the quidco system you get a casback into your bank account on average within about 2 months. If you want to know more I'd be happy to help. Even on house ins I have just had a cashback return of £100....... No bad eh!! (Takes away some of the painful insurance costs)

I posted this a while ago, now my delivery date is due I have decided to adjust the excess from £450 which is what the above quote was based on, and reduced it to £300 so the premium is now £303.
Have you tried swiftcover.com, I assume you have. Your premium does seem a little steep based on your driving history, unless, as you suspect it is your postcode that loads it.
