Mine seems expensive compared to a lot of people, especially as I've got no convictions or claims.

Could be coz I do high miles....

Have you tried swiftcover.com, I assume you have. Your premium does seem a little steep based on your driving history, unless, as you suspect it is your postcode that loads it.
I went the usual Confused.com route, then tried Virgin as my house insurance is with them and they were cheapest. I tried Swiftcover last night after reading your post and tbh they can save me money but only about £20, bloody Brummie postcodes.

P.S.

Likewise - I tried Swiftcover, but they were about £50 dearer (Bloody Glasgow Postcodes!)
Think I'll stick with Yesinsurance.co.uk who provided good service when the last car got shunted up the rear (oo, er, missus) last December.
And me excess is only £100!

For you youngster's who have, or are considering putting your parents name down as the main driver of you car.
Listen to BBC radio 4 "Moneybox". on the BEEB website.
It was repeated last night & was Fridays edition I beleave.
They are not paying out and the lengths that the insurers are going to prove fraud is. --

I tried to put my mum on mine (who's been driving 15+ years with no claims etc) and my £497 premium went up about £50. Work that one out

Now you have pointed that out, its probably a good thing I didnt do it, although I'm not sure how they could prove the mother has not being driving at all for it to class as fraud!

If you put down a parent as the main driver of a car in order to reduce the insurance premiums and have a claim do not be surprised to be investigated with the insurance company doing many checks to find out who the main driver of the car is. And if its not mummy or daddy then they will not pay out as the insurance will be invalid.

They are even demanding to see invoices, petrol receipts etc.
Its not worth it.
God forbid it should happen, but if someone was killed, you would be taken to the cleaners, by everyone and his uncle.

My last car was insured under my Mum's name, but she probably did end up driving it 60/70% of the time as we car share to work. (She took my car to work and dropped me off) Car was also parked at her place of work not mines. So I would have been sorted for producing invoices and petrol recipts as she paid for the fuel and invoices for the car were in the name of me, my mum and my dad.

This time my CTR is in my own name as its only about £50 more expensive than putting it in my Mum's name and she'll not be getting near it!

She must have been driving without insurance then because I didn't put her on in the end

After reading the above posts, I'm pretty glad I didn't!
