Thank You Holdcroft Honda!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Gareth and their Master Technician (also called Gareth!) for fixing the worlds most annoying rattle on my Type R.

I have mentioned this in other threads but basically my local dealer had 4 attempts at fixing this and only suceeded in making things worse and damaging the dashboard in the process. The guys at Holdcrofts said they would sort it and were true to their word. Now there is nothing to listen to but the joyous sound of Vtec!

Sometimes, if you have the time, it is worth travelling just that bit further to get a better service/repair experience.

I imagine it would be bad for business if they shared their magic fix?

I go there (Accord booked in for service) - and at 60 miles I think it's worth it. Local dealer is 6 miles!

I can post it here, if you like:

Listen to the customer
Know the car
Make the effort to fix the fault

Works for all sorts of faults - and of course is a formula used by a few dealers, just not all.

Dont see why they wouldnt share information Jon, its all contributing to Honda customer happiness a the end of the day. Even though I purchased my car from a local dealer they were still happy to work on the rattle for me.

As to what they did with my car they did a number of things. The main rattle sounded to me to be coming from inside the steering column, which they opened up, secured everything and packed it with some foam. Their technician also noticed a few other minor squeaks and rattles so i believe they had most of the dash, the windscreen and the passenger side roof strut airbag out. They were extremely thorough and kept the car until they were happy they had tracked them all down. Its so refreshing in this day and age to find there are still conscientious people out there who care about doing a job well.

I have to say I do feel fortunate that I live so close to Holdrofts, after some of the stories I read on here.

My car went in for it's first service and the handbrake mod on Friday last week, it was all done in just over an hour. I can certainly recommend them.

I even had to stop them from washing it.

yeah they should, i got my diesel from there a week ago, there was one fault with it, the front cigarette lighter was loose, but it was too far for me to go back for, so rung up my local dealer. they charged me for a fuse even though the lighter in the boot worked. scamming sods.

Cheers guys. It's nice to have some feedback from you all. It really means a lot to me and the rest of the rabble to receive such good comments and opinions. Obviously we aim to give an EXCELLENT customer experience, and if that is what you feel you have received, that is our job done.

I must give a big thank you to Andy (storm53) for sending the best gift I have ever received through the post. A huge wooden box of nostalgic sweets! flying saucers, sherbet fountains, dip dabs......you name it, they were there. The only complaint I have was about our telephonist eating the exploding candy right next to my ear whilst I was trying to inform a customer he needed new tyres

Just to let you know, I'm enjoying my new job as a service advisor tremendously. It's really good to be talking to people and listening to their Honda experiences, rather than looking at cardboard boxes all day .

Once again, thanks very much.

Gareth.

Sorry to be dull, but another big thank you to Holdcroft.

I had a slight rattle from my door cards (Accord), and the lads there spent hours repeatedly taking the cards on and off (and re-packing) to fix it.

It also had the infamous Accord clicking clutch. Did they fob me off with a squirt of grease? No - straight in there with a new master cylinder which has fixed it totally.

The car now is as clean as new, and drives better than new. Silent, smooth and lovely.

Could it be any better?

There's a pole in the showroom, but I couldn't find the dancer.

Hmm Im having some trouble with my suspension the front skweaks and the rear rattles. The whole ride is really really bad and my P reg punto drives better. I dont want to go to my local dealers and Im thinking of going down to Holdcroft and asking them to look at it. The only issue is the 48 mile journey down.

Yes the Service Advisor's job can be really rewarding at times and other times it can really get you down and you'll wish you were back looking at cardboard boxes all day. It helps if you have a good team of technicians behind you in the workshop, if not then unfortunately the Service Advisor takes it in the neck for the technicians inadequences.
My advice after being doing the job for 2 years (with Vauxhall) is become "thick skinned" and put yourself in the customer's shoes....works for me.

Good luck in the new job
