Unhappy Residual Values...

Have you seen the Trade in values for the Civic in Parkers, 06 EX 2.2 13.5k

Looks like the predicted 50% drop after 3 years might be a little optimistic

I never get upset about depreciation (not that I can afford to). It is just a cert...

1.) your born
2.) your cars depreciate
3.) you Die

you loose the best part of 20% the instant you drive it off the forecourt

I personally wouldn't get in too much of a sweat over it for the moment - unless of course you're planning on selling in the next 6 months or so...

And going to get worse as more are sold and the build quality problems become more obvious.

Don't think I've owned a car that didn't have issues. Merc A class/Audi TT we're with major flaws and still held up a standard depreciation.

I think the only car you can pretty much bank on having low dep is the new Mini, their value is great. Bought 2nd hand one (bog stan) for missus back in 03 for £10.5k and sold 3 years later (to buy my civic ) at £8750, and they bit my hand off to the elbow to get it,

There is a huge list of problems with this car together with poor designs faults. Yes many new cars have problems but I dont know of any other person who has bought a brand new car and had such a wide variety of faults (whether big or small) as some of us Civic owners, teething problems are expected and small minor issues, but some of these faults are worrying, I believe I was one of the first to point out the gearbox problems and now this is becoming more common, I am certain there is a paint issue with the Civic and I am going to prove it, there are too many of us with scratches, stonechips and even reports of bird mess fading the paint after a day!! The paint may be thin and of acceptable levels in Honda's eyes but how many people do you know driving new cars having the same problems. It wouldn't be so frustrating if Honda lived up to their "good customer service" reputation.

I had my paint thickness measured two weeks ago tomorrow and yet the technical services department still have not told me what the acceptable levels should be!! I have found a paint expert who is going to back me on this issue but can you believe I have been told by Honda today that what he says wont count! It has to be a company they instruct - Strange that!

Watch this space..........
