£470 a year (after current £50 cashback offer) with the Post Office. Civic Type S i-CTDI (group 10), 20k miles a year, 23 years old, 4 points for CD30, 22 year girlfriend on policy, 3 years no claims, non fault accident last year, fully comp.

I was £800 a year at 22 years old with 2 years NCB for a group 17 Focus ST with Admiral last time around.

Even if it's a little bit out, it'll explain the differences between areas. Looks like Belfast is a bad insurance area according to that.

How many years no claims/points/accidents have you had? £1900 does seem excessive for a group 11 car.

Czech,
If you lived down here in the Rep. (I know, I know) at 21 driving a new 2.2 Civic you probably wouldn't get a quote considering FBD wouldn't quote me on my 1.8 at 42 with a clean licence. I know young lads at work with 1.2 cars being quoted over 3000 euros!
PS I forgot to mention the road tax for a 2.2 currently 722 euro annualy.

Thanks for the advice everyone, finally got it sorted out today after a bit of shopping around! Went for Quinn Direct, Irish company quoted me just under £1300 which I'm happy enough with. surprising after reading your comment 99jim but it'll do me! Thanks again!

I'm dreading my Type R insurance in March.

35
Birmingham
1 claim for damage / theft in last 3 years
2 claims for stolen cars in last 4 years
1 accident (other driver drove off so *my* fault)
3 points for speeding
0 ncb

Has anyone insured or tried to insure their car through Honda? I know my boss had a good deal when he insured his Corolla through Toyota.

Insurance is never going to be easy on the pocket, although the following 2 things are working against you.
Driver age
Location of insured person
My son of 20 years old has just insured his Fiesta, he paid an arm and a leg in a relativley cheap area to get insurance with 1 year no claims, i think it was in the region of £1500.
The next point is important as I have a very close friend who lives in Northern Ireland (Newrey), we are close at age levels him and me, but my friend pays at least £250 per year for his insurance more than I because of his location.
Solution - change the car and your location or just bite the bullet and enjoy life.

I had thought about Honda but never got round to seeking a quote, they go through sun-alliance for the cover. Anyone had experience of them?

I have just insured mine through Honda (Sun Alliance) Quote was cheaper than my Direct Line renewal and I managed to reduce the policy excess to only £100. Cover is very good in comparison also.

I could have got it even cheaper with some other companies but cover didn't meet what I wanted or excesses were high
