Advice Required
Hi All,
I am in Central Scotland and trying to get some info on purchasing a Civic (actually the civic is for my mum as I currently have an 04 plate CR-V and will soon be purchasing and 07 version) 1 Is there a real problem with delivery (she is looking at a 1.8 ES or SE with I-shift and leather) or is it just if their are lots of options added?? 2. What would you say the general wait time is 3. What are the discounts like ( anyone in scotland) 4. What is the story with the 3rd brake lights - they never look like they work properly Would appreciate any comments and advice you care to part with should say that she will be changing her 04 civic for the 07 plate change!! Thanks Last edited by Brodick; 2nd December 2006 at 01:14. Reason: Mistake |

Woah, chill out!
1+2) I think the demand for the car is far beyond what Honda had expected. Most people are experiencing waits of 2-3months, the leather seats option is factory fitted and could delay things to the full 3months although it depends on what stock they have. 3) Can't comment on scottish dealers but going from whats been said here discounts are pretty rare across the range, brand new car and highly desireable. Thats not to say they don't exist. If you don't ask you don't get. 4) No problem with the brake lights, agreed it doesn't fill the bar or look as cool as it should, but it works and no-one has any real complaints. Hope this helps a little, read through some of the forum topics and use the search facility, should find the answers to all you seek. p |

Hi,
The only consistent aspect of the delivery time is that it varies a lot! It all depends on when the next production "run" is of the spec you are interested in. Choosing rare specifications will mean you may have to wait longer, but by far the best thing to do is chat to a helpful dealer, who will sit in front of the computer and give you a list of options like, "There's a silver ES in January, but with I-Shift" and so on. Discount is a thorny issue. If a dealer has to compete with another product from another manufacturer on price (customer says "well I'm off to by the £200 cheaper Vauxford") then you may get a discount. But a Honda dealer is not in this position, and the product is in demand, so he's unlikely to throw away good money for no reason. Discounted cars tend to be overpriced, in stock and slightly rubbish. Never seen the third brake light, but maybe we can fix it to look better Hope this helps. |

Thanks Guys,
I was unaware of the longer delivery times I Have a good relationship with my current dealer service manager is generally spot on. There are a few Honda Dealers around this area so might go and visit them first and push them for a deal and then challenge my current dealer to match!!! ( need to see how thing's go as i said the Civic is really my mum's car and she may even change to the Jazz instead) As for the All new CR-V I Like it - it looks more upmarket and they have made big steps with the interior and although I haven't seen it in the metal ( only in photo's) The front end is different but it works still waitingto see the full specs although managed to get my hands on the prices the other day but it is the Civic first - not due to change my car until april |
