Engine diesel or petrol?

hi this is my first post i have done a search but could'nt find anything so sorry if this has been covered many times
i'm thinking of swapping my clio 182 for a civic (may be getting old now) but would the extra £1200 be worth spending on the diesel as i like the idea of not keep revving the t*ts of it like i have to do with the clio?
