Hi guys!
I havent bought my Civic yet, but looking to next year and am looking for a little advice.... I test drove a 1.8 Sport which I loved. Originally I wanted to test drive an ES, which was the model I wanted, however they only had a Sport demo model in, so had a go and I loved it! So now I'm umming and ahhing between the Sport and the ES. The Sport has everything I want (well apart from front fogs!) but the ES has a lot more, for not a lot more in price... (£500 at last look!) So I guess I'm wondering which model people would recommend? I love the 17" alloys on the Sport - is it possible to get those on an ES model? Also colours, I love Vivid Blue on the Jazz but not sure about it on the Civic - looking at Cosmic Grey or Black maybe.... can anyone show me any pics of their Vivid Blue Civic as I'd really like to see what that colour looks like on the Civic.... Thanks, all opinions welcome - I'm a total Civic newbie! I currently own a Toyota, so know all about Japanese reliability and quality and the Civic seems to have that, plus style and sex appeal in abundance! |

Sorry... should have pulled my finger out and done a search.
I like that colour, but I'd want all the black bits colour coded like he's had done Might pop to the dealership to see some colours in the flesh.... black & Cosmic grey look good in the brochure, but you really need to see them in person so to speak to get the best idea. To be honest my first thing is to sort out the Sport vs ES bit, colour comes after I choose which model! lol |

If i were you i would go for the ES, you might find you regret paying the extra in a few months and as you say it isn't much more. The alloys you want can be fitted by dealer, lots to choose from, may have to pay extra, try get it thrown into deal!

Indeed it's worth haggling to get what you want.
If you want the Alloys, they'll cost more than the £500 extra and you'll get all the extra toys too! On the colour front Cosmic Grey isn't around anymore (I think?) so that narrows the choice a little. Work on your dealer though, he might have some Christmas spirit and give you a good deal. |

Wow - didnt know that about Cosmic Grey, I like the Galaxy Grey, dark grey is very in at the moment (so I hear!)
But I do like the Civic in Black so hmm, decisions So the general consensus is go for the ES? I must admit, I'm leaning towards the ES with maybe the 17" Sedici alloys I might go back and request a test drive in the ES, to play with all the extra toys, like I dont need cruise control, never had it before, but could come in handy I suppose |

Don't rule out the diesel unless it's a cost thing. Try one, you might be surprised
Cruise control is great for the speed camera's, especially the ave speed ones. No fear of gradually getting too fast, especially at 40mph on a motorway. I don't like dark colours as they just look dirty unless they're spotless and shiny. That'll be mine needing a wash again |

lol just realised what NHB means.... silly squirrel!
NHB is a popular colour then? As said I do like the Vivid Blue as well, I just need to see the colours in the flesh to make up my mind as swabs just dont do anything for me. Dark colours are lovely on most cars, but you're right, my Yaris is dark blue and it gets filthy so quickly, but I love the colour and wouldnt have it any other way - dark colours look awful when mucky but amazing when clean! Its not really the cost of the diesel, I just dont do the miles to warrant one. I might test drive one anyway, to see the difference (if any) as I hear the Honda diesels are brilliant.... Great reason for cruise control - I hate those average speed cameras! |

Diesels ace, maybe you don't do the miles to really benefit from the economy, but consider it for the performance, much better than the i-vtec!

Hi Squirrel, nice to say 'hello'.
My 1.8 i-Shift is brilliant. NHB takes a bit of TLC to keep it looking sparkling, but it's such a pleasure to clean and polish. Incidentally, the Cosmic you saw may have been Chris Hutchinson from Avonvale Honda. Oh, I failed to mention...get the stainless steel garnish on the door sill, looks ace! |

thought this may be of use to you. I test drove the vtec and the diesel back to back yesterday and i have just ordered the diesel ES in night hawk black. If you haven't driven the diesel then you should. I liked the vtec and the noise was great but you had to drive it to get the best out of it, nothing wrong with that. The diesel however wisked me along on a magic carpet. Onto the motorway 95 with out even thinking didn't even see the counter climbing. The diesel is effortless and as i do a lot of motorway driving it will eat the miles. If you haven't driven one then you should, you may regret it if you drive one later. At least you can discount it.
Hope you enjoy the drive as much as i did |

Is it the sport or the ES
I had exactly the same situation, I wanted to test the ES but the only demo was the sport with shiny 18" alloys red paintwork black interior, looked fantastic, drove the thing and loved the drive, however the ES is going to be more practicle for my usage and the extra's are great plus nI needed a car with 4 passenger doors, so the ES ordered with additional 17" alloys. Everything else is the same as the sport. Go for the ES my friend

To be honest the extra kit you get with the ES; the gorgeous glass roof, the auto lights and wipers, the dual zone cimate control and the power folding mirrors are all worthwile. It was a no-brainer for me. The only downside is the ES has smaller alloys, but that isn't that much of a big deal. You'll be glad the first time you miss-judge your distance to that kerb when you are parking in town... Last edited by Bungle; 12th January 2007 at 21:23. Reason: I can't type! |

I think if you can stretch to the ES to go for it, better to push the boat out rather than pick the sport only to regret in further down the road. I think the added features represent good value.
