Driving a Hyundai or Kia, think you need that 7 years.

For a Honda, 3 years is normally enough
With the civic I am not sure anymore (not that I have big problems with mine, but I read a lot LOL), but I asume that all problems are sorted before the 3 years waranty pass......

I also believe that any on going issues will still be dealt should they drag on after three years - but hopefully any faults are fixed before then

The rate you're going at 3 years may not be long enough!

well, we had a hyundai coupe for 3 years and it was very very good, only had one warranty claim (a crack in the exhaust manifold next to the lamda sensor) which was sorted very quickly...

Only reason we got civvie when we did is that we couldn't fit the kids car seat in behind the driver

Hynudai even honored our warranty up to 5 years, as we bought it just before they changed from 3 to 5....

Wonder if honda would do that...... especially if this damn filler cap fix keeps rearing it's ugly head every 6months when the foam has got all squashed!!

I was just joking, don't think they make very bad cars anymore...

About the civic, I hope they sort everything out and if honda cares there famous reputation, the only thing they can is sort everything out...

The problems are not serious just irritating - I am not getting worked up about them anymore I would rather have my car knowing its faults then risk getting another to be honest, better the devil you know!!

This idea that ongoing issues will be continued beyond the warranty period amuses me. It sounds like what doesn't get fixed in three years will continue not to get fixed thereafter.

we have 7 years warranty in Greece and we can travel as many kilometres as we like in that period. The only condition is to have our services at honda dealers. That's fine with me!!!

Honda Turkey has declared that all 2007 models are under a 6-year or 150,000 km warranty. 2006 models could benefit from this by paying 450 YTL (ca. £170) so I paid and had mine extended to 6 years.

The Civic brochure I have (dated 01/07) states in the 'aftercare' section that extending the warranty to 6 years is an option.

Quote:
Hondacare Guarantee
All Honda cars are covered by a 3 year manufacturer's warranty*, but with the Hondacare Guarantee* you can extend this cover for up to an extra 3 years.

* Terms and conditions apply.

I bought my car from Grantham Honda and they have a 3yr warranty extension to cover items such as exhaust, shocks etc thrown in (I think it was 6yrs/90,000miles). I think its a standard for all cars bought through the Lincolnshire Honda group.
