The SE does have them - you won't notice anything different about them
only when you have anaccident will they do their stuff

I have wondered about this too...

What do they actually do? It is not as though they are wired in or anything, the come off just like normal head restraints!

I'm always chilled.

There's a typo in my previos post, I meant to say 'implies', not 'implied'.

I thought 'active' means it actually does something. Like inflate or physically change shape or brace before your head hits it.

They're linked to a panel in the seat back which as your body goes backwards the headrest pivots forwards.

I recently read about a car crash test where the cars were hit from behind. To see how well they could avoid whiplash. (Don't remember who made the test though.) And the Honda Civic ended in 4th place. That isn't bad. What was a bit odd, was that many sports cars and other expensive cars were at the bottom of the list.

I think it's physically connected so it can't fire your head forward.
(or at least we hope so!)

Active head restraints

According to the civic brochure on page heading SAFETY the text is as follows
'if you are hit from behind, the headrests move forward to absorb the shock and help prevent whiplash - a Honda first'.
regards
Kerry

Only five weeks to go now before delivery of my new civic, can't wait, feel like and eighteen year old. The trouble is my wife won't let me have one.
