Hi,

I had a similar problem with mats for the Golf due to the full size accelerator pedal coming up from the floor. Having decided not to pay the dealership price for mats, I found a good set that looked the part for the car only costing £22 and I spent about an hour to cut them to the required size and shape to take the pedal into account and it has worked a treat. I will probably do the same with the Civic once I get one.Click the image to open in full size.

I paid for the mats but I was one of the first to order at the begining of Jan, oh well, I'm happy with them and the cost was minimal compaired to the car itself

Well spotted, I've got to admit I did think it looked a cheap and shoddy job. Will soon fix it though

And the carpet mat no longer snags the clutch pedal - bonus!

Is that blue diamond plate? Mats with glossy surfaces can be very slippery when wet, so I'd be very cautios if they are metal.

About Civic mats, I asked the dealer if he could throw them in as part of the deal, to which he blankly refused, saying it couldn't be done. Cheeky gits!

Hi,

Yes it is blue diamond plate. I've got them in three cars and not really had any problems with them and know of a few others who got them too.

The trick was just taking the time to cut in from the edge of the mat round and the bottom of the accelerator pedal, looks good with the footwell lighting too.

Cheers, Brian

Mats

Anyone know if you can get rubber floor mats for the Civic in the UK? I noticed in the gallery that one of our Potugese members has them fitted in his car.

Do not buy them.

I do not recommend buying rubber floor mats from Honda stock. I have made mistake and I bought them. The reason I regret is that they just stink. You can not get rid of that very unpleasant offensive smell that makes my kids and wife feel really sick. I tried to wash them, I kept them on a balcony for a week in a fresh air and it did not work.
Do anyone of you know how to get rid of that smell

I've asked and apparently they don't do them.

The fitted carpet mats aren't cheap though and I managed to get them for £20 cheaper on eBay.

Have bought them from my local dealer. They did stink at first but I washed them with car shampoo and rinsed them off and the smell has gone.

I managed to get carpet mats with my car (although they were taken out of a demo). But I haven't got any brackets to secure the driver's mat in place. Is this something I have to pay for? or can I get the dealer to provide these? I'm getting a bit fed up of retrieving the mat from under the groovy drilled pedals.

Any advice please.

Hi Misstings,

When you got them from a demo car, they probably just took the mats. When you buy them, they actually come with the brackets to secure them in place.

Just go to your local dealer and tell them you have no brackets and you should get some. DON'T pay for it though, becuase they DO come with them. I know, 'cos I've got 'em!!!

Thanks JPDirect

I'll get on to my local dealers tomorrow. Its a relief to know that I can stop searching my manual to find out where the brackets have been hidden!!

Oooh WoolyCiv - Am I likely to break a nail whilst attempting to fix the anchor brackets?

Oh dear. Thanks, but no thanks - think I'll stay well clear of Gweniera. Especially as she's found the dip stick.....I'm scared.
