To type "S" or to type "R" that is the question

If they would cost the same and you were Shakespeare which one would you by: Type R GT or Type S 2.2 i-cdti ?

btw. I have to warn you that I don't mean here in Type S that has extra options: different front and rear skirt, body colored all skirts and plastics on the bottom and blade alloys(whith all this it looks extra great) because with this options would cost few thousand euros more than Type R GT...

I would really go for the fun (Type R) at this moment...
Not that I am saying Type S is no fun...
But I love the sound of the R at high revs..

Type S 2.2 i-cdti

Type S 2.2 i-cdti, for me. Ive had a shot of a couple of various Type R models and always find it a bit "unnerving" that you have to rev so high to get going, where the 2.2 i-cdti just oozes torque from the word go.
Plus, remapped for an extra few hundred, and its seems mid-range pick up on the oil burner is better - it relates (to me) to be a more "useful" driving experience.
PS. As far as I know (could be wrong) the Type S has the Type R's suspension setup too.

If running costs weren't an issue, I wouldn't be driving a Civic. If they aren't and it's between the S and R, it'd be the Type R without doubt. If they are, and I had to choose, I'd take the Type S, which is why I drive one.

If ins. didn't kill me Type R,
Even though the 2.2 can be remapped, shouldn't be long before Type R goodies come out...

But with my current life spent on the motorway and my insurance my 2.2 ES is great!!!!

Tough choice, all things being equal it would have to be the R. It's like going to a restaraunt and only ordering half a meal (type-s), go the whole hog! That said insurance etc rules the type R out immediately for me.

Diesel would still be down 15-20bhp and weigh more. In gear the chipped diesel would rock... but it'd never match the Type R for handling, braking or outright speed, whether in a straight line or around a track.

hmmmm....

A chipped Diesel, with the (potentially!) same suspension set up as the R?

Braking would be an issue though

Poll is begining to equalise

I think that the mpg question is not an issue the poll would be:

Type R -100%
Type S 2.2 - 0%

Hey, there is always autogas

An R GT for me. Although, if I had one I'd certainly rev it a bit more than this:

Talk about Sunday driver. That chap couldn't stir a fondue properly, let alone the Type R's gearbox!!

I was in the same boat 3 weeks ago before we ordered our new car.

The things that swayed our decision to go Type 'S' was fuel consumption, insurance and the unwanted attention of owning a Type 'R' again.

The increased overall running costs were not worth the additional extras you'd gain from a type 'R' (top speed and handling, seats to name a few) and since the colours were boring, no yellow or white options.

So we decided type 'S' GT sticking with the 2.2 diesel to be our new civic.
