finance experince in birmingham

hi just to report my experience of buying a civic in birmingham.

I met the dealer or salesman last sunday , extremely good salesman, didnt come out with bull. very good at selling told him straight i work in sales know how it all works, he understood and was straight with me as well.

I told him essentially i know brokers deals (drive the deal) if they are competetive ill go for him. also told him i know the brokers buy from the dealers.

he offered me a couple of quotes over the week whilst iv mulled over thinking abt a bmw or civic

today went for my test drive which didnt happen. he introduced me to his manager who does the finance as he went to do his test drive with his appointment as i arrived early.

the manager does not offer a sit down, does not ask if my situation has changed , what is your situation, comes back aftre 5 minutes of keeping me waiting and gives me a quote. Apparently he had to go in 10 minutes.

aftre explaining to the salesman all week that i know the best deals around
on pcp the manager offers me 12.3 %apr with no discount on the car. (actually would turn out to be £3900 more expensive with the quote he gave me in monthly payments alone than the drive teh deal quote.

i look at in shock thinking what rubbish is this. he also tells me this is his best price. and if i get my credit card out he may negotiate after telling me its his best price.

i stand there thinking does this guy think im stupid. they have had all week to realise i know the best deals around, i work in sales. and they offer me a deal which is 40% more expensive than the next best deal at drive the deal.

very shoddy experience, i dont blame the salesman as it was not in his hands and i did not get a chance to speak to him aftrewards as he went for the test drive with his customer as i was early for mine.

did mange to sell salesman that i did not have time to wait for the test drive and my experince with his manager was not good.

honda direct think all customers are the same and go for the same approach every time. have no idea dealing with a astute buyer who has clearly stated that i am looking for service and as long as the price for pcp is not massively out i will go with them.

what do you all think???

sorry for grammar and spelling.

Andy

I'd definately have done the same as you did, refuse the test drive and walk away not giving them your business and more importantly your money. I would ignore the arrogant sales manager and tackle another dealer if I were you. I hate people like that and they don't deserve to waste your time.

I hope it hasn't put you off buying a Civic.

yep - think your did the right thing

there are some shockingly bad salespeople out there
the good news is that you can shop around for the best deal, and then shop around for the best place for servicing

good luck - don't let it put you off

Sounds the total opposite of my experience at Brayley St Albans yesterday...they were fantastic. Although it took a lot of persuasion, they eventually agreed to match Broadspeeds price for the Type S GT (16320 v 17550) which saved me an arm and leg.
I also told them not to muck me around, and to be fair they didnt. I highly recommend thme to anyone in the Herts area.
