Angry Cancelling orders

Folks,

Am in a bit of a position with the garage. Was hoping to switch my 2.2 CTDI for the type R. However have been told that my delivery has been brought right forward to this friday. Obviously they are not keen for me to switch now as they will be left with the 2.2.

Question is, if i decide to cancel all together, am I only liable to lose my deposit, or do I have an obligation beyond the deposit.

They have suggested I take the 2.2 and change it in 3 months, however I think they are trying to do a swift one as no doubt any trade in after 3 months will be significantly less than i have paid, probably a few thousand.

Going up to the garage after work, so any ideas will be most helpful.

Im sure they wouldnt have a prob shifting the 2.2. Especially if its never been used.

How much do you really want the type r though? Im my opinion your better off with the 2.2.

Commercialy it's a proffit question. Do they do more proffit with a 2.2 Diesel or with a R Type ? Plus is your car already resgistered ? If yes, it will be considered as second hand car ... (here in France) Or did you order your 2.2 in one the the less wanted color with the less wanted spec ? If no they can resell it with no problem I think.

Give us some info later and keep it straight !

Well......... went for a test drive of the type R before all this came to light and it's a great car, really worth the extra few quid that i'm paying for the 2.2 ex.

Question

The 2.2 is an ex model in NHB, with the glass roof. I have cancelled the extras i originally wanted as they wont add to the resale value. So it's probably one of the more saught after colours and spec.

They say it'll cost them £650 as my name is already on the documents, despite the car still being finished at the factory, it's not actually at the garage yet. I was led to believe it was only registered once it arrived at the garage>>>>???

no my car was registered about 2 weeks before getting the car.

All depends what you want really but overall i just think you get more with the 2.2 as its not exactly slow and its still cheap to run.

Yes Honda ask for custommer name/adress but it has nothing to do with the registration of the car for the plates (In France, and I dont see why UK Law should be different ?) So look with them if it's a profit marge problem...

I'll take the 2.2 EX!
If only I had the money....I really would.
Yeah; I can't imagine them finding it too hard to shift it, but at full price?

Positively yes... so why do they bother you with the 650 £ Is that the profit margin difference between R type and Diesel? or do they have a special bonus ?

Spoke to the manager last night, and even he tried to put me off the type r, saying it's a boy racers car etc. And there was me standing there at 30 years old in a suit, however when I was a boy I couldn't afford something like the type r, infact i had an F reg 205 diesel !

Anyway, he wasn't too happy but is willing to sell the 2.2 to someone else and let me proceed to order the type r. Hopefully no penalty fees will creep in ! Bad side however is that I may have another 20 week wait on my hands !

Yeah took the type r out, accomanied by the salesman, who showed me the various differences between the cars. If I had been on my own, I would have taken it easier, however the salesman was pushing me to put my foot down as the car doesn't perform until you hit 5000rpm, at which point it takes off. That was yesterday lunchtime, at which point it was raining heavily, puddles of water all over the roads. Didnt push as hard as he suggested as I wanted to live another day !

It's always frustrating to do such a testdrive. I ask always if I can get the car for one day at the minimum. A 10 mn testdrive is just enough to see if you fit in the car, if it's not too noise but for the rest

Going back in on sunday to iron out the details, have just been on the type r site ( like this ), seems that there is some room for negotiation with regard the 'we can't offer any discounts, honda will fine us' situation.
