Ran out of red paint!
I have ordered a milano red civic, but will have to wait until June to receive it. If I wanted a car this month(ES with leather) I could only have silver. I couldn't beleive that I was planning on spending thousands of pounds on a new car but I could only have it in silver if I wanted it this month; and I would have to pay extra for the mettalic paint that I didn't really want!
Has anybody else had similar problems? |

I've originaly ordered a Milano Red 2.2 i-CTDI EX Civic, end of October 2006. The Dealer was confident for a two month delivery schedule. After having check with Honda France and the Factory in Swindon and after I've called him back several time (every other days...) He had the following infos : due to "problems" at the factory the red Civic could not be delivered before March April (was not scheduled for manufacturing) So he propose to me to swap to a Champagne Civic same spec he had pre-ordered on is own (at one of his techies name...)
I accept the deal (had the metal for half prize...) And take delivery of mine the next day And since I've a big smile on my face... Last edited by l-noel; 7th March 2007 at 14:33. Reason: not having read my post before clicking on the button ! |

honda build the cars in batches, by spec, and, I believe colour.
unfortunately you've hit unlucky with your choice of combinations - if you ordered in May you could probably get a red one soon, but have to wait for a silver one... |

That's unlucky, when I was buying mine I was given a the dates for each colour in the spec I wanted and there was a gap of between 4-6 weeks between each one. So I picked silver and got it the following week!

I wouldn't! Stick with red, it's worth the wait I promise - just have a look at my new baby...
I had a 10 week wait for her and I don't mind one bit as I have only seen 2 other red Civic in total, and I drive a lot of miles. Also the red compliments the grey/black body kit rather nicely... |

I had to wait 14 weeks for a red, it is to do with batches, depending on how many they have ordered when you order yours, if you are the first on the list and they build them in 100's you might have a wait, but if you are number 99 you probably won't have to wait as long. Please do not quote me on the numbers in batches, just an example, also not sure how true it is, heard that from my lease company. The common colours will be shorter lead times, wait for the more unique red!

Hi Mike
It really is worth the wait. I spent alot of time deliberating on what colour to get. I found that red really emphasied the front end of the car and considering it does not have a grill it shows the shape of the light cluster or mask more than the other colours apart from the bright blue. And looks sporty to boot. Just my personal opinion. |

Hi Mike,
I went for Milano Red - in Feb 2006 and the car was delivered Oct 2006, but at least by then it was the 07 model. MR is THE colour for the CIVIC - it looks great without bigger rims, lowered suspension, image pack et al - so if the colour is important to how your car reflects your feelings AND CHARACTER, wait until June. However, that's the view of somebody who thinks metallic silver or metallic grey cars are just anonymously boring - fundamentally coloured to blend with a grey sky, grey suit and grey hair (which, these days, I have less and less of!!). The Civic is the least boring silver/grey car you could wish for but silvers or greys do nothing for it - black, blue, red will at least make your position clear |

Yes. They run production in batches, with the more unusual stuff done in batches, and probably a reasonable amount of the common stuff every week.

I disagree with you on the black, I find the lines of the car get lost with the NHB, the lighter colours show off the contours much better methinks.

I understand (having never owned one) that silver cars are the easiest colour to keep clean and hide road grime well. |

Thats very true sik, my last motor was black and it nearly made me cry every time it rained, was a nightmare to keep clean, silver masks it very well, much less frustrating!

I think NHB is good for it - as is MR, VB and the Deep Bronze: NHB because - in my perception of the colour - it is sinister, agressive and it gives the little spaceship (rocket) a "get outa my way" characteristic. The other colours give the car other characteristics and appeal, whereas grey and silver IM humble O are anonymous. In any case, I still like my MR best of all!! |

I agree with Egelundsvej.
NHB tends to accentuate this aggressive look the Civic has (and that's why I went for it), but yeah: Black is the worst colour to keep clean. You get all the dust and water marks very easily and quickly. |
