Noob time!

Hi Guys,

Been on the hunt for a new motor for a while and the new Civic CDTi seems to fit the bill.

We'd be looking at a used one on a PCP.

I have been reading the site about the various issues people have had etc. but things don't seem too simple, so I keep getting myself lost in the detail.

Locally a few dealers have Civic CDTi EX's, early ones, in blue, with a panoramic roof on 55 plates.

Are these worth considering?

Also given that the cars I would be looking at would not be '07MY models (but should have had most problems ironed out) what should I be looking out for?

TIA

Check the wiki, there is a list of common/known faults there which should cover most of it.

http://www.civinfo.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Otherwise just browse around the bugs, faults and irritations forum to get an idea of the common issues!

While I don't own a 55 plate, due to matters of international importance (ie. I don't live in great britain)
I do have a civic that was made in January 2006, So a one of the early cars.

Up until now, mine has been fault-free. Even the fuel filler flap worked every time (allthought it didn't come out far enough for me to have convidence in it after reading this site, so I did a little mod)

So it's a bit of a gamble really, but if you do find a fault before you buy it, it might get you an extra bargain. There's a checklist on this site somewhere with the most common faults.

I have a 55 plate EX picked it 15th Dec 2005. Just completed 16,000 miles and all fine and still loving the car. I've been back to the dealer for the fill cap and back supension which were all sorted and are fine now. Also had the recall from Honda for something to do with the steering.

I've got a 55 SE and not experienced any problems outside of the EPS, Fuel Filler cap & the shocks. But if it's a dealer selling the car they should do these.

I could be wrong - but I don't think it was possible to spec an EX with a glass roof back then - think it was possible from about Aug '06...

I've now seen (and driven) 2 55 plate EX's with Panormaic glass.

I am pretty sure they were Honda UK cars, issued to managers etc. So I imagine they blinged them a little.

Bit like at most car plants with a new model I suppose.

I was just going to say the same thing! ES with Sat Nav maybe? then the only difference would be the HID's/Headlight Washers

I was pretty sure the only way to get NAV in the 5 door was to go EX.

look what I found on here

http://www.ukcarbroker.co.uk/honda.htm

Quote:
HONDA CIVIC 2.2i CDTi SE SAT NAV & HFT (17"ALLOYS) £CALL £16,902
HONDA CIVIC 1.8i VTEC SE i-SHIFT SAT NAV & HFT (17"ALLOYS) £CALL £16,393
So maybe it is/was an option

Surely if you optioned NAV and HFT it becomes an EX, there isn't much of a difference apart from the aforementioned!

just been through the Honda car builder.

For the ES, Sat Nav is definately not listed as an option. Bluetooth hands free is, but as we know, that isn't HFT as such.

Bizarrely, for the SE (lower spec than ES) it's a bit more confusing.
Sat Nav is again, not listed, BUT
you can spec a reversing camera - which can only work with a Sat Nav installation...

either way, I stand by my statement

until someone on here says 'my non EX has one!' anyway
