Alabaster Silver with 17" Pentas

I'm picking up my cdti ES on Friday. I was speaking to the dealer today and he's offered me a great deal on a set of 17" Pentas. Has anyone got pictures of any Silver car on Pentas? My head says no, tyres too expensive. My petrolhead says YES cooooool !
Help, I need to make my decison by lunchtime tomorrow!.

True if you really want the option and if you can afford it go for it.

Regrettably, I'm already the talk of Carrick!
Tyre prices is another issue. Budget 16's are about £45 fitted, 17's about £66, Top notch 16's about £100, 17's £150. Seems that most 17s are V rated (150mph) whereas 16's are H(130mph). Still need the photo to tip the balance! Thanks for your thoughts.

I would go for the better tyres, difference in performance makes it more than worthwhile. I have the Michelin Pilot sports and the grip is excellent. Improves the handling no end.

I posted the link to the picture in the other thread you opened
first pics off my cosmic grey 1.8 i shift
It's no alabastar but hey it gives you an idea.

Same opinion as Czech if you can afford it (that's the condition, money is always an issue) go for the better tires. I had the same dilemna on my previous car when I needed to change them and I have to say that it does make a difference.

depending on the miles you do....

but tyres are seeming to last circa 12K miles on the fronts, whereas rears are hardly touched at that distance

Pentas' it is then! Getting them off an ex demo, having covered about 5k miles for £300, including sticky Yokohama tyres. Dealer taking the ES alloys as part ex. Thanks all for the advice.
Dreaming of Friday- Alabaster Silver ES, Pentas, Reversing sensors, Leather interior, removeable towbar, Blue interior lights- MASSIVE SMILE ON MY FACE - and no more sleepless nights, hopefully. Will post a few pics as soon as I can.
Cowan, will be there for about 3pm. Mines the one not bumping into things backwards, with Pentas' on!

Hi Czechplastik. I'm from dungannon ( which is why i went to saltmarine) originally but live in moira now. Am a bit worried that madasadad is getting my wheels as the dealer said he had a spare set of 17" pentas that he could give me for a cheap price. I'm sure it'll be ok, i hope!

Cowan, he has 2 or 3 sets on site. Have you done your deal yet? Remember the customer client confidentiality thing. Don't name my deal directly, but at least you've an idea what you should be aiming for.
I'm getting sat Nav and MP3 socket fitted for about £100. Realistically I would say I'm paying £400 for the wheels, and the guys in the workshop will be doing the rest.

Cheers madasadad! My lips are sealed. Yes the deal is done but tony didn't mention that they were used. My wife seems to think that the wheels i am getting are new so i guess i'll have to check with him to be sure. I thought the mp3 socket came as standard or perhaps that is just 2007 models. Are we getting 06 models? I'm not that fussed, just so excited about the car. Hope all goes well for you on Friday and enjoy the drive back to Carrick.

Talking

If I remember my conversation with Tony, your car has them from the factory, cos when I phoned him at the start of the week, he could originally only find your car on the system, which was identified by the 17's. Gave me a BIG sinking feeling for about 45 seconds until he found mine. The MP3 socket is the Connects 2 mentioned elswhere in the forum, and the dash has to come out for that .
Reading other threads, motorways aren't recommended within the first couple of hundred miles whilst running in, something to do with seating the piston rings. I'll be going home, Moneymore, Magherafelt, Randalstown, Ballymena, Doagh etc. I'll know by then if the 17's are a good decision!
Good luck for tomorrow, only one more sleepless night waiting, another 2-3 years sleepless nights worrying about the blonde bimbo that parks beside me using my car like a door stop!. She has my wifes Tigra convertable so dented that the visually impaired could find the complete works of Shakespeare down the drivers side!
