Can I expect a long wait?

Oh dear, I've been waiting for quite some time now. Ordered my 1.8 Civic (comfort) in the beginning of january and they gave me a 3 month wait.
In the end of january I gave them a call, asking if they had a definite date.
Nope, the second week of april they said (yep, the 3 months they gave me before).
So I asked if he would expect my Civic to be likely to arrive sooner or later. He said he expected it to maybe arrive sooner, not later.

Two weeks ago I called again, asking about the filler cap and I also asked about the delivery date (offcourse). I was talking to an assistant and he didn't know. But he said that if there was a definite date they would call me.

And.......the didn't. So my Civic is scheduled in for 3 weeks, but I didn't receive a definite date. Do you think it will be delayed? When did you guys receive your date?

for the UK, 3 months is currently on the long side of average for a 1.8 at the moment.

BUT -- given as how you have ordered a Comfort spec, I'm guessing you are from outside the UK?

Our friends in Holland seem to be waiting longest at the moment - 3 months wouldn't be unexpected over there

Sorry to hear that mie. All you can do is be patient and I assure you the wait is well worth it. Unfortunately it isn't always easy to get firm delivery dates. Keep pushing the dealer for as much info as possible!

Yes, I'm from Holland, so that's the problem?

I think I will give the dealer another call this afternoon. I don't want to keep calling like a impatient child, but when you wait this long........

I know it's worth the wait, but I drive a 17 year old fiesta right now and it's annoying me

Hi Mie,

Try contacting the Honda Distributor in Holland. Thats what I did after waiting 4 months with no news in Ireland.

They replied to my email very quickly and within a couple of hours the dealer rang me to say my car will be arriving in 2-3 weeks.

When I ordered in october my 2.2 Ex civic in Milano red the dealer give me a two month delivery term. En of december he warn me that Milano Red cars would not be delivered before mid march/beginning of april... By chance he has the same spec car in champagne to be delivered an propose a colour swap. I could not stand the wait, so I went for the colour swap !

Hope you will have good news soon !

Ah great! Thanks for the advice. Where did you get the mailaddress from, do you remember? I will do a google search myself.

It seems odd to me because I have ordered the most standard Civic you can imagine. A NHB, 1.8 comfort (don't know if its the same everywhere but comfort means without any extra's )

Great! The champagne color is a pretty one! But this isn't an option for me I guess. I don't think they will tell me they ran out of black
And if this was the case I wouldn't swap to another color. I've always wanted a brand new black car!

Oh and before I forget. What kind of info did the distributor need to check about your car? Did you give special info like a number or something like that?

Hi Mie

I did a google search to find out the distributor. You may also find the details hidden away on the Dutch Honda Website.

All they needed from me was the type of car ordered and the name of the dealer. It seems that over here they do not order direct from the factory but seem to be "given" so many Hondas' to distribute as they see fit. If your lucky the car you want makes the shipment!

Hope you get the same result as me!!! I know the wait can drive you mad!

Thanks again! I gave Honda Nederland BV a call (schiphol) asking them if they were the distributor. Yes they were, but I had to be put through with customer service and they weren't available. So I asked for a mailaddress and she gave me this. It was an address of a woman named anouscha. Does it ring a bell?

Well, I hope to receive an answer this week!

Sorry, I suppose on re reading mu first post here may be slightly misleading!

Still, I'd say the same approach should work for both countries!!!

I think it all boils down to the fact that the salespeople know they have a sale and if you do not rock the boat they do not go out of their way to get the car for you quickly, they are more interested in signing up the next person into the show room.

Yes you are right about that one. About salespeople that is.

I'm wondering if your approach will work here in Holland. My experience is that the dutch aren't so polite and helpfull. I guess in Ireland and brittain they are.

So the next step is to bother the dealer again

Well, I'm not surprised. I guess they are more helpfull in Ireland.
I received an email from the dutch distributor, saying;
You have to go to your dealer. Without an order number there is nothing we can do and with order number we can do the same thing your dealer can.

And my dealer said; your car is scheduled for week 15, this is the week of the 9th of april. We do'nt have a specific date.

Well, at least they both replied and I guess it's too soon to call of a definite date. I was hoping for a early arrivale, but he, I'm waiting so long, I can handle another couple of weeks.

At least you managed to get some information from them.

I wasn't even given a rough date - just that when it was in it was in.

Not long more for you to wait!
