Vehicle Registration Certificate
Received a letter yesterday morning from Honda informing me that my V5C (Vehicle Registration Certificate) was incorrect.
"This is due to the AFRL (Automated First Registration & Licensing) computerised system obtaining model data from a new database which was incorrectly populated. The result of this is an incorrect statement on the V5 concerning the model description which currently shows an incorrect Carbon Dioxide emissions figure; this should read 135g k/m". this means I have to send off my V5C to Honda and I will then receive a corrected registration certificate form the DVLA. Has anyone else had a similar letter? Also - for those of you who haven't received a letter, it may be worthwhile making sure your V5C has an emissions figure of 135 and NOT 140 g k/m like mine. I have also had this letter. I am glad that someone else has received it as I always very wary of unsolicited mail, even though it looks very genuine, and sending off a V5 is not the norm.

Apparently it doesn't (at least for road tax costs).
http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/search/vedSearch.asp ^^ emissions bands for road tax. |

I've had a look at the ADEME web site (it's the french organism looking after Energy and environmental preservation) They dont even know that the new civic exist with a diesel engine (they just quote the old 1.6 ES civic
So I presume the civic must be well quoted too ! (The best one is the Volkswagen Lupo 1.2 TDI 3 litres BA with a quote of 80 g/km and a fuel consumption of 3.38 l/100 km) |

On the Honda UK site the figure is quoted at 135 for all 5 door diesel cars; also on the VCA site:
http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/sea...rchResults.asp Still dubious of sending off the V5 to get one back from a different source. |

This will have been an arrangement made between DVLA and Honda. It's not the first time a Manufacturer has populated it's database with incorrect details for CO2 or number of doors etc. Honda will need to collect all the V5s in question and send them to DVLA in a couple of batches where they will be corrected and a new V5 issued.

My V5C states 140g/km too, I've not received any letter from honda yet.
I thought it was strange that it stated a different figure than the website, but after I checked it wouldn't affect the road tax cost I didn't bother about it. |

while we are on about co2 emmissions - can anyone check these calculations of mine.
A CDTi - band C @ 135 g/km against a Type R - band F @ 205 g/km is a difference of 80 g/km. Doing an annual 12,000 miles (19,312 km) gives an annual co2 kg output difference of 80g x 19312 km /1000 = 1544 kg of co2 emmissions. On the carbon offset site( http://www.co2balance.com/pages.php?pageid=109 ) this can be offset at a cost of at £13.50 so why is the difference between band C and band F = £90??? Ok a bit simplistic , but does it show how us motorists are being ripped off? |

Not necessarily in that order of priority. Drivers subsidise EVERYTHING ELSE. Oh yeah, 205 - 135 = 70, not 80. Last edited by apemonkeyman; 30th March 2007 at 09:26. |
