Angry Honda Happiness? Honda Jinx more like

Having owned my Civic 1.8 EX for 3 days - still very much in the honymoon period, I decided to take it to a friends house to show him. I was parked outside when some moron decides to reverse his car into my door and front wing making a lovely big dent. I felt like crying like a baby!!
Anyway.... his insurance company accept liability so off to Honda it goes - they pass it on to one of their approved bodyshops. Imagine how excited I am to collect it yesterday . I collect it, all looks good.... until I notice the garage has kerbed one of the alloy wheels. Once again - I feel like crying like a baby. The garage tell me they would "sort" the wheel out, so I leave the car with them. I was surprised to get a phone call from them after 4 hours to say it was "sorted". Off I go, once more excited. I expect they had replaced the alloy as it had only been 4 hours, but on my arrival was surprised when the man at the garage says they had repaired it. I look closely at the wheel - looks good to me I think, so off I go (not happy with having the wheel fixed, but relieved to have my new baby back).
I get home, have a look around the car and notice another wheel has been kerbed!!!!!. Now I am sure this was not there when I looked around the car after seeing the first wheel damage, so I speak with the repairers who deny causing the damage and refuse to do anything.

Great!- a car I have had less that 2 weeks, with a body repair and a scuffed alloy.

My thought on this so far were that the garage had not actually fixed or repaired the wheel, and had just moved it on the car - I am sure I would have noticed. So..... I call the insurance company and tell them my saga, I request they do not pay for the repair until the wheel is sorted - they agree (cool!!) I then decide to get my Honda main dealer involved, so off I go this morning and speak with the parts manager. He agrees to "sort" the wheel out and books it in for 16th April.

I say to the manager "While it's booked can you sort out the phone mic and a recal notice for the windscreen". He replies "How do you know about that then? Are they real problems or have you been looking on that stupid internet forum?" Nice attitude.

My car is jinxed

It is sad to read about the luck you are having.
There is a worrying trend at the moment of back luck for Civic owners getting their pride and joy bashed by other people.
At least you hopefully couldn't have as much bad luck as Topcat, if that is any consolation.

As for the dealer's attitude. My dealer has had money out of me because of this forum. I have bought replacement lamps and a fascia on recommendations from this forum, something I would not have done otherwise.

Wear your 'Civinfo.com' sticker with pride

Any chance of naming and shaming? - Or even the locale of the dealer would suffice.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck - I know how disheartening it is when these things happen and I know all about the hassle with further damage being caused to the car whilst in for repair.

Which dealership is it?

Cheeky little F***ers!
They knew full well you'd only look at the first damaged one. Quite genious though (sorry)

Name and shame I will . The car was taken to Lindhill Honda at Southend. They got their authorised repairers called Bodys to repair the damage - they did a good job at fixing the door and wing, but not such a good job with my wheels.

I must add that I don't want to bad mouth Lindhill Honda to much as they have offered to "sort out" the damaged wheel caused by their approved bodyshop Bodys.

I have ordered a Civinfo sticker which I will display proudly when I take it back to them.... see if I get any more comments.

I got my car from Lindhill in Colchester, and the service from them was superb.

Hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Bad luck and a bad deal, Darren, I deeply sympathise.
I've just checked out recalls and updates with Honda on line and it tells me that my car has some work outstanding but, frustratingly, it doesn't tell me what the work is or even how 'serious' it is, safetywise. You apparently knew there was work outstanding on your windscreen - great - but how did you know the recall/update referred to that specific item?

Crackers - I just called the dealer and gave them my registration, they were happy to tell me. I would have thought you could call any main Honda dealer.

Thanks, Darren. Hmm, it would be good to have a source of reliable info on recalls/updates and who better than getting it first hand from the manufacturer? Cynical I may be, but experience has taught me to be wary of the motor trade, they do not always operate with the customer's best interests in mind. Having said that, I am grateful for your advice.
