Dog Guard Details please
I've seen a few threads about Dog Guards, but was wondering if anyone had some more details (pictures?)
Is the standard Honda Dog Guard a 'mesh type' or a 'tubular type' ? My dealer guessed at metal bars. Does it intrude into the boot space at all ? Basically I'm concerned about how much it will impede the already poor visibility. I think an extra couple of bars going across will be no use, but a mesh I hope will be alright. Cheers |

I was originally asking about Honda fitted upgrades to the ICE but could get no knowledgeable answers & no demonstrations. Useless. |

We have been looking at getting the dog guard fitted to our car but at £175 that is a bit steep anyone know if there are any decent cheaper one out there that do the job just as good.

Its only a thought, but I reckon that a spare wheel net would keep our little chap where he should be.
No problems with rear view and has to be a very simple on off fit, with minimal noticable fixings for it. |

Good idea do they do a luggage type net also that cover the back, but even with that in our Rav4 one of our cocker spaniels still manages to get over so i reckon we will just have to buy the proper thing, i have looked on ebay but nothing as good as the honda one.

Howdy - I forked out £175 for the dog guard, as I had done previously for my HRV, as I didn't want to lose any boot space for the pooch. Also my Staffy has such a fat ass that she'd just lean against those Argos-type ones and they'd fall in on her!
As for how it affects visibility, it's hard for me to say as they'd fitted mine when I went to collect the car so I've never driven without it. I'd guess that it would take some getting used to if you've driven without one, but at least one of the bars aligns with the mid-window spoiler anyway, or at least it does from my height. To be honest, I tend to bemoan the water on the rear window affecting my visibility rather than the dog guard! When the window's clear, I have no problems seeing through it. I know the price is steep, and it made me squeal when I heard, but we all know the boot shape/size/space above the rear seats is fairly unique in the Civ, so there was no other option for me. I have to say it's very well made, very sturdy and strong, and not like anything else I saw on the market before I splashed the cash! Hope this helps! |

Actually I'm not sure about folding down as I haven't tried...!!
I'll have a peek tomorrow in the daylight but from memory I can't recall that there's anything attaching the guard to the seats themselves, so I suspect you'll be okay. I'll try and investigate for you!! |

But the dog will be able to crawl under the guard at that point. |
