taa,

Regarding fuel consumption for different models.

I was led to believe that the EX uses a bit more fuel, because its

supposed to have its duel climate on all the time.

I thought it was the fact that it and the sport have 17" wheels. Both have the same figures in the brochure, and both are less than the SE and ES with their 16" wheels.

Yeh, it's down to the tyre/wheel sizes

Elfa - the dual climate is switch on or off to suit.

thanks for answers. still, all those figures don't make much sense to me. if they are meant to be an average consumption of an average driver, then they can't be true. my average is way above the promised for combined driving. if, on another hand (and more likely) they are some figures achieved in ideal conditions with ideal driving, on a relatively short run, then i can do still better than that (sorry for being mr d. ). for example, if i fill up on my way to work when the engine is already warm, and continue for the remaining 20 km, the counter on arrival sayd 5.1 l per 100 km. the promised number is 5.4 for comfort and 5.5 for executive and sport for extra urban driving (i have a sport with 17'' wheels). and i had airconditioning on for the last couple of days and it did not seem to make much difference. anyway. it's not to save on petrol we bought those cars for

The air con on will cause about 7-8% increased fuel comsumption (industry average) but I wonder who was driving thee cars when they made up these figures. My car only every has me in it and I don't have any extra "stuff" in the boot etc. but I'm 6'4" and 17 stone so how big or small were the drivers testing the cars?!?!?

Read somewhere recently that opening the windows uses more fuel than the AirCon.

You should leave the climate control on anyway, less chance of getting a stale/broken AC chiller/filter unit.

That is very true, but i like that extra bit of power to be available to ramp it up a bit

yeah but also who will have a/c on all the time? not in danish, or british for that matter, climate. only to cool the car down after it's been parked in the sun. but then the engine will consume less because it does not get very cold in a weather like this.

i was also wondering always who and how is testing cars to get these figures. my brother has a honda stream from 2002, and before that he had an accord from 1995. he says he never, ever comes even close to the figures promised. understand me right, not that i think it's using too much fuel. i just want to see realistic figures for an average driver in the manual, not some ideal-test-tube-teorethical-wherever-they-get-them numbers. my husband had a skoda fabia before, and we could easily achieve figures given in the manual, also in long term average, not on a short nice run. well, as my brother says - yes. they are lying to us. but we are still buying their cars. because we want honda. don't want skoda. (have to make sure dear husband does not see this ok he does not have a skoda anymore anyway)

Of course you can leave it on. It is climate control. Choose the temperature you want in the cabin no matter what the weather and the system will get to that temperature.

Make a hell of a lot of sense to me.

I prefer to keep it on at all times. Even when it's freezing cold outside, because it defrosts the inside of the windows much faster.
