but part ex is handy if you don't want the hassle of tyre kickers, or run the risk of having 2 cars at the same time (double insurance, parking, road tax etc), or having a gap between selling the old one and picking up the new one.

But yes - you do pay for the lack of hassle.

If you want most money, sell private.

If you value the (lack of) hassle factor more, part ex

regards paying for it -

the benefit of doing it on finance is that the finance co are part of the deal.
If you have any major problems with the car, you can get the finance co involved too

again, horses for courses - you don't get owt for nowt

Trade in + rest on switch for me.

Paid for the Focus ST by switch (~£20k). Had to verify with the bank that the transaction was genuine and answer loads to questions to prove I was me, including the exact date when I opened the account.

I actually paid from my loan using my debit card - phoned bank the day before to confirm & they made note of it. No probs with it going thru then...

I paid for mine using my debit card (like most people do) what surprised me was that it was authorised without question - I never use my debit card - I use my credit card for everything to get airmiles. So much for LLoyds monitoring my account at all times for signs of unusual behaviour.

I got my car on finance, spent ages getting loan and other deal info and the dealers finance guy sat there with me and more or less matched the best price i got, so very happy with that.

The wife on the other hand paid cash and part-ex for hers... she is much better with money than me

Sorry to say this, but aren't lillies usually used for funerals?

When I looked for financing, the personnal loan and the financing from Honda offered approximatively the same rates. As I had never taken a leasing before, I tried it for this car to see how it will go
