Discount on dealer fitted options
Hello again -
As you know car should arive May 20th. I'm about to place an order for quite a lot of dealer fitted options (skirts, rear camera, parking sensors, etc). The options I've chosen are come in at around £2,600. Naturally I asked the dealer what sort of discount he would give me on this fairly large add on to the sale. He said there was almost no room to budge in the pricing so he would throw in the matts for free. Does anybody know if this is true. I would have liked to see a little more of a discount on these parts. Should I just go to another dealer to do the work? Thanks H |

Keep haggling - on the previous CTR aircon was dealer fit and discounts could be found quite easily.
I think the dealer may be thinking you've put an order in and can't really get out of it. You could always threaten to take the work elsewhere. A lot of people had aircon fitted retrospectively on the former CTR. |

I think it largely depends on how much you've screwed them down on the deal so far. I was told there was little margin on the dealer options... I had screwed the core price down as far as I could already = £19700 (about £2k under list) for my spec below. No discount offered on extras & had to pay for mats.

I think it's great the way Honda have done the options, by making them dealer fit you can get them done as and when you've got the cash - and you can pick and choose between dealers etc.
My current car (Focus) has to be ordered from the factory with all the stuff you want. The dealers can do almost nothing at all! Most cars seem to be like this - is Honda unique in making 95% of the options into dealer fit accessories? |

I agree with you ukpm. It's great to have the flexibility.
I called up my dealer (Southend Honda) today to try haggle again and they did explain the same thing to me. I got a really good price on the car (about £1800 off list) so I gave them the go-ahead on the extras (at least I got the free matts). I must say they've been very attentive at that branch so I don't want to screw them totally for an extra £50-£75 Thanks for the input guys H |
