* Rant * Car delayed!

I ordered my Civic Two months ago and I was told that it would be delivered by the end of May.
I kept calling my dealer regularly to check that this date was correct and still on as I travel a lot and need a car and needed to time when I would get rid of my previous car. I called on Monday this week to confirm that the car would still be delivered by the end of the week and there was no problem...
Then I received a phone call from my dealer this morning telling me that as there wasn't enough cars with the same specs I ordered it would be delayed to July!!!
My previous car is sold ....
We tried to find solutions with the dealer and if I want a car sooner I need to settle for another color... which I did (at least I could settle for the color I hesitated with but I hate this!) but I still need to wait an additional 2 to 3 weeks! And in the meanwhile I have no car!
I am waiting for the dealer to call me back: he needs to see if he can lend me one during this duration.

It is not the dealer's fault: he is as pissed as I am. But I don't understand how Honda couldn't give him any head-on beforehand...

My dealer sorted out a Type S corporate demonstrator direct from Honda fleet management. I got it on my original due delivery date until my own EX was delivered 6 weeks later.

If you can do without a new car in that time push them for some freebies - make sure you sound ready to walk away from the deal if they don't.

I agree, while it is annoying, you can use the situation to your own benefit

I'm supposed to be picking my 1.8 EX next Thursday I'll be seriously p'ed off if this happens to me too aoshi (for a start my tyres are getting worn they'll last another month according to the garage it's just had its MOT ... but I dont wanna be spending out for tyres on a car thats going) as everyone else says you can only use it to your advantage the longer the wait and the more put out you are the more extras you'll get!

Just out of interest what colour / spec are you waiting for?

I got told mine would be delayed today too, fortunately only by another week, to the first week in June. Another week to wait though

He is supposed to call me back today and I will definitely ask him for some compensation.
