the death of cosmic grey

Hi everyone - first time poster and soon to be civic owner - i'm picking mine up on friday and can't wait!

I couldn't decide between galaxy grey and cosmic grey (and now that i've found this site, I kinda like the red one too but my dealer couldn't do as good a deal on that colour...) but have eventually gone for galaxy.

And now to the actual point of my post - when I was in the dealership, my dealer said that there were only a few cosmic greys left at Honda because they are discontinuing the colour and not making any more. I guess they must be replacing it with something even better, but it's a great shame if it's true because the cosmic is a lovely colour on the civic.

Looking forward to spending more time on here - great forum!

Dan

Welcome Civvie06 - guess I'm joining the list of owners with the "rare" colours then having had my Cosmic Grey EX since May - I've previously owned an Arizona Orange Fiesta and an Oyster Silver Mondeo (similar to Galaxy Grey) - it's nice having a car in a colour that you don't see everyday - one of my neighbours was just telling me yesterday on her daily long trek to work that black Civic's are "common as muck" she says

well i'm just glad to be getting rid of my electric blue megane - aside from the electrical and mechanical problems which seem to have afflicted me ever since I bought the car (afflicted the car - not me) it's difficult to drive down the road without seeing half a dozen of them!

Love our new Cosmic Grey one! Mind you, it's also a fantastic car! I just think the Cosmic Grey helps blend the plastic bumper in, and also looks gooooood!

Cheers

I find cosmic grey a good compromise for not having black, you've got a dark metallic colour that looks smart but hides the dirt much better! - my personal opinion of course

Someone also mentioned that Galaxy grey would be axed. Was this a misunderstanding or are they really going to drop two colour choices?

Any comments from those of us in the 'know'?

Would have been a tougher decision between cosmic grey and black for me if I hadn't just moved from a graphite pearl accord. Two grey cars in a row would have been too much.

Having said that, I've always preferred the Accord graphite to both the cosmic and galaxy greys. Would be nice to see a civic in the darker Accord grey.

Agreed with Graphite Pearl of the Accord, much nicer colour. I wouldn't have chosen it, though. My dad's Accord is Graphite Pearl!

So as my Cosmic Grey civic is a 56 reg first registered to Honda UK, then it must have been sitting around a bit if the colour was discontinued by June / July.
I was under the impression there was waiting lists for these cars then, or was that only for high spec models?

Only trouble with discontinued colours is obtaining touch up.

Both the old shape Civic and the CRV were sold in cosmic grey too, so I imagine there will be plenty of touch up paint available for a while!

The dealer is the best place. When you order, they ask for the VIN Number and match up the paint batch to the car. That way its as good a Colour/Tone match as possible. Its usually available in Touchup stick, Paint with laquer and Two Pack (Paint & Laquer in seperate tins.) If its Perlescent, then I think its only available in two pack (but I may be wrong).

No, you would be better off using one of the below companies -

http://www.alloywheelrepair.co.uk/

http://www.alloywheelrepairs.net/

http://www.fenwicksupplies.com/

http://www.clean-image.co.uk/wheelrepair.htm

http://www.refinishwheels.com/

http://www.wheelmedic.co.uk/

http://www.alloy-repairs.com/

http://www.wheelstyles.co.uk/

http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk/

http://www.alloy-wheel-refurbishment.co.uk/index.html

http://www.repairmagic.co.uk/alloy_wheel_repair.asp

By all means try other companies not listed. The above are just from a Yahoo search. Its a specialist job, so needs a specialist company.
