Obo,

Only guessing but would think the only thing they need is to know the VIN number and they had that! And a car does not have plate when it is delivered so sounds to me they are just feeding you a crock to make you go away! You whole buying has been totally mismanaged from the start by the sounds of things

I hope the powers that are reading these posts as it does sound like they are trying to keep things from getting too high. Make sure you write a huge letter of complaint!

Not least as your going to miss us all on Sunday if you don't get her till next week!!

Hi,
Haven't been on here for a while but I brought my car from Bristol Honda and had huge problems with them regarding scratched paintwork which took 5 weeks to resolve and all they offered me was the £200 back on the Supagard (not even some free car mats). This was resolved 2 weeks ago and I still haven't got the cheque they promised. Write a full report and send it to Honda UK. Customer service at this branch is terrible, buy honda elsewhere.

I can't believe how many people have had bad experiences with this dealer, how are they still in business? surely they can't last much longer.

Hi All !!

I also got my spaceship from Bristol Cribbs and at first they have been very good to me, but then the fuel cap problems started...

..... First 2 times they had the car back, i'm not sure what they did but was ok for about 3 fills and then started to play up.... so me not being a happy bunny on the phone to them, they asked if i could go up there and then so they could have "a look" as my computer business is only 5 mins away from Cribbs, i said ok, i'll be there in 5...

Got there, spoke to reception, yes ok sir sit down and i will get a engineer to look at the problem now etc etc.

so sit down in the so called waiting area ( very hard seats) chosing a seat where i could keep an eye on the car...

ummm 10 mins, 20 mins 30 mins pass.... no engineer.... 40 mins 50 mins .... go to reception "what the **** you people doing to me, i got a business to run and not sit here on my arse waiting for you" type statement made to num nuts behind counter... ok sir i will get someone out now sir, please take a seat etc... uhhhhhhhhhh !!

retake my seat and guess what... 10 mins .... 20 mins.... 30 mins.... no engineer. so off i go to reception... fire coming from ears and my mobile going mad from people at work wanting me back PDQ...

Yes sir engineer has made an ajustment and we need to order parts etc etc can i book you in for next week.... What the **** !! lost it big time told the service manager what i thought of his setup etc....

With that an engineer followed me out to the car and fitted the new spring clip part in 30 sec flat and left..... i was not a happy bunny and stormed back into the showroom making loud noises about customer service to people looking at a civic. told the service manager i was sending him a invoice from my company for my wasted time... Guess what, get the first service paid for and a free car valet....

so all ok ..... Nope the dam filler cap started to play up again today

OH DEAR ..........

They all sound like a set of muppet's, ever wondered where the cast of that show went, all down at Bristol Cribb's trying to sell Honda's!
Did any of you see Bert and Ernie?

Hopefully my post from 8 April may help:

When you close the cap sometimes the spring clip may pass the wrong side (left) of the catch on the flap causing the spring to hold the flap firmly in place.

I pushed the spring clip flat as best as I can (springs back out like a good spring should) & now I just keep an eye on it through a tiny gap as I close it to see that it is passing to the right of the catch.

Pings open nicely everytime I make sure of this. Eventually I am hoping the spring will find the correct side of the catch without me having to check.
Works everytime now.

Bristol Honda are indeed muppets of the highest order... but not so entertaining. Maybe Gonzo...

New thread idea: what muppet best represents Bristol Honda?

I was told today they used to be a grade C dealer and now they are a grade A I'd hate to see what anything below is like! He then reeled off loads of sales figures which meant absolutely nothing to me I'm not easily impressed

I really wish I'd never bothered and stuck with weston but they didnt want to know at all and were completely clueless with regards which model had which options I was told you couldnt have leather & glass roof together only one or the other!

Time will tell if they come good on the delivery but I'm not getting too excited about it!

Obviously missing the point aren't they. It's not sales figures that make the difference to you!! Wonder if he's aware of the £35k he lost cos the tw*t refused to give a price on a CRV unless Roger's Mrs committed to buying same day (not that that would've been enforceable). Grade A for Arse.

I tend to treat most "shops" now as showrooms - do my investigations online, decide what I want, touch & test in the shop, buy (online if possible) cos most sales assistants cannot (or are too lazy to) keep up with their product ranges. When was the last time you got really in-depth knowledgeable help in PC World or Currys? Unfortunately Honda dealers (& I am sure many other types of dealer) are suffering the same rot. Not all dealers, but it isn't going to get any better.

It's such a shame that you can't complain to HUK & get them to transfer your order & car & the commission to another dealer when you've been treated so badly.

I would suggest Waldorf and Stadtler.

Obo, well done on the city pack. You deserve it. I wish I had discovered this site before buying my ES. Not to worry, when it's time to change it I will have the strength of this forum behind me.

The manager offered to see if he could do this when I said yes ok that sounds good as they will never see me again anyway, he completely changed his tune, I dont think he realised that not only would I prefer not to deal with them again the Weston dealer is literally 5 minutes down the road from my home, however I went with Bristol as they seemed much easier to deal with *how I wish I had a crystal ball*. Obviously they dont want to lose the sale but more importantly imagine the other dealer asking WHY the sale was transferred!

I was in the market for a new car I looked at loads and couldnt decide. Then I saw a civic drive past and I loved it, so I came home had a quick look at some pictures online and shot straight to the Honda garage in Weston. The kiddie I spoke to knew nothing so I came home and looked into it further, went back and got a price on a sport (even though I specified leather) I still dont know why I only got that but I decided I couldnt afford even that so went back to looking around but nothing compared to the civic.

I went to Bristol realised that all the savings I've been sitting on for years could finally be put to use and since the salesman was brilliant completely not pushy and knew his stuff I ordered it. Not before comparing to Weston. There was £20 difference so I had to choose - close to home or better dealer... I went with what I thought was the better dealer. I even checked online before I ordered to see if I could find any negative points about either garage.

I wish I'd decided to go closer to home, although I know I wouldnt have got the car any sooner I might have been kept informed.

All I can do now is hope theres nothing wrong with the car when I get it

I think the problem today is that everyone wants everything as cheap as possible. To do this, retailers have to cut corners somewhere, and paying salesmen peanuts and not bothering to train them properly saves lots of money. Products are made cheaper and less well (something some Civic owners on this forum might agree with) and customer service has to be paired down because that is expensive.

We all want something for nothing, and unfortunately we are now getting it.

I expect this with a £20 MP3 player but not on a £19k car though!

Absolutely. £20k flagship of the model car (EX) should not have corners cut that at cost are next to nothing. See Satnav POI thread.

Unfortunately the structure HUK runs dealers on allows only peanuts of commission so you get dealt with by monkeys, OR some dealers are not conscientious enough.

Tony K at Holden in Norwich really pulled out all the stops to keep me happy & never a cross word was had despite my delivery time doubling from 10 to 20 weeks. He communicated reasonably well - I had to chase up a couple of times - but it was always such a pleasure having a chat with him it was fine.

If that happened then the DVLA would charge you a 'holding ' fee of , I think, £80.

That's the way I had to do it.

It wasn't down to the incompetence of my stealer but the seemingly inefficient delivery system of Honda's, as no one knew when the car was gonna turn up

Some of the crap Obo & others have had to put up with verges on the fraudulent so maybe I would not be the one who would get arrested! Hang on, no, this is 21st Century Britain... of course I'd be arrested & the provocative criminal would get off without even a warning.

Taking deposits on cars with no believable delivery date; leading customers to believe specific dates; failing to provide an acceptable standard of service. Doesn't sound very legal to me.
