Actually it was the only concern i had with buying the Civic that it was built in England. I personally dont think the brits are that great when coming to build cars. I love the Civic and think its great but if I had to compare it in build quality in comparison to my previous Accord which was not made in England then Im afraid the Accord would win hands down.

Didn't worry me. As far as built in Britain, personally the problems have been with the quality of certain parts -- not the way the car was screwed together. And some of the parts were sourced abroad.

British car industry is in mega decline, most of the big makers are now building state of the art factories in eastern europe, with big tax breaks, not financially viable to make cars in the UK anymore.
Doesn't bother me where the car come from so long as it rocks! |

I just wanted the Civic.
Where it was built didn't really influence me at all. Nice to know it's 'British' tho' "Nothing dispels enthusiasm like an admission fee!" Charles H. |

My current Civic has shown a few problems that will eventually get sorted. I would think that those problems were from the design of the engineering in the assembly of the vehicle, with I assume a Japenese influence. The Brits(?) that build it are only doing what they are told to do and it should be less money disappearing from the UK to help keep the balance of payments on the straight and narrow. That over with I'll go back to my Sony tv to watch 24! "I was given an unlimited budget, but I exceeded it!" Charles H. |

The quality on my previous 2 Civics (US made) was a lot less then on my Uk built CTR. Quality might perhaps go with the location, but reliability doesn't matter much I guess. Honda could probably even built cars in Bagdad that would never break down (not counting bombs that is).

I want the Civic, but I was a little bit worried about the Uk manufacturing. UK manufacturer are not well none for the realiability of the cars they produce (except RR ?).
My Ibsurance Co in crease my premium because it was a "Japanese Car" so more expensive to repair... |

I don't think the country of manufacture has a great deal to do with reliability today.
Even the French (no offence I-noel) can build a reliable car, the Yaris. I have driven Peugeot's and Citroen's in the past that you average Brummie at Longbridge would probably find poorly put together. |

I bought the civic because I liked the car, but would sooner have had it made in japan.Yes they probably do build them in Swindon to the approval of Honda (japan)- but I still think the brits capable of producing Friday cars ,and the management being less interested in customers(I wrote to honda uk a month ago about i shift-and still waiting).I did'nt wait so long on queries on my 98 civic-made in japan!!
