Service Time nearly! What's peoples opinions on?

My 2nd service will be due very soon and of course like everyone else I want the car to last and I want to makesure all the correct work is carried out when it should be.
Has anyone used Halfords Autocentres and if so are they any good as I am finding I can't afford to pay the prices that main dealers want or have people purchased the parts and done the job instead?

Any help or suggestions would be greatful. I also find that I have emailed quite a few dealers and you would think they would want business but they don't reply to me is it only me or do other people find they have the same problems.

Cheers Pete.

If you don't mind a trip down to Crewe, ABP Motorsport will probably do you a second service on a 2.2 for almost £100 less than a main dealer - and they do know what they are doing!

Take a look here.

Service Cost - Civinfo Wiki

Shop around dealers and then try to get more local dealers to price match. Also ask around your friends and family for good local independants. As long as they use genuine Honda parts, or parts of equal or better quality, and are VAT registered your warranty will be unaffected.

Hi pete, Many years ago I had a 2nd car Polo Ranger, which I put in to a Halfords service centre and wish I had not as had nothing but problems, in the end I had to take it to a main VW dealer, to rectify problems and claim back from Halfords. That was about 1988, so they may have improved, but I also saw on ebay, someone selling their BMW after Kwik fit serviced their car, I guess just goes on who is working on your car, is the price difference that big? another idea could be to look up local garages do some research and ask people on here or google to see if the garage is any good, good luck.

Thanks, Stevefox and dimply red great tips. You can understand that I want to look after the car as its me pride and joy etc.. but some of the dealers are just to expensive at the moment. I was considering purchasing some of the parts and getting a local garage to do it for me but I dont have as many contacts as I used to when I had my very first car.

Stevefox, I may consider getting in touch with ABP motorsport its not that far down the road from me. Do you by any chance know what there website is?

Thanks for the advice BigAlan this is the kind of thing I worry about as I have done similar with past cars and found certain garages to be poor even I could of done the job better.

The only safe bet with the motor trade is personal recommendation so even if it means a bit of a trip i would go with the advise here and go to ABP.

When i had my EVO i used to go from Bristol to Ralliart in Birmingham because i felt they were the best for that car.

This is great guys! you've all helped me a lot. I am gonna work out the costs of the parts for the service then I am gonna give ABP Motorsport a call and see what they can do if I do go it's not that far. I will make it a day out lol.
The only one problem is I can see myself going and getting the normal service but then getting new ideas in relation to future mods lowering springs etc.. lol as I had the same problem with my first car well put it this way it may of only been a 1.1 but I visited demon tweeks in wrexham so many times. Hey great fun tho!

Hi Hybridrob, I will take that advise wisely. I hope it did not cost you to much to rectify the problems you had with using Halfords Auto centres?

I have never used them, but i work for a honda dealership which has had to rectify the issuses that they have caused, on our mazda franchise if the diesel engines arent filled with low soot oil they clog the dpf, thats a common fault when not using genuine parts and the correct oil.

Then Honda 12.5k service sheet is on the forum if that helps you

Thanks that does help Hybridrob. Am I allowed to ask were your dealership you work for is located? If you don't mind I understand if you can't tell me. Do they do reasonable rates for services?
