T-12 days ... and counting!

Evening all!

After spending 4-5 hours cleaning my old car I took it on its final road test - how much could I persuade a Honda dealer to give me for it in exchange for a 2.2EX Galaxy Grey?

A reasnable amount and £1000 off and free mats and flaps.

Current ETD is 7 June but still waiting on some money so not prob there even if it does slip a little.

Took the Honda Finance which wasn;t too bad but not borriwing a huge amount.I;ve ben stung by personal loans not turning up in terms of paper work and don't want the situation I had before with the last car in that I was paying insuranece and the car was in the dealer's compound and I had no money to buy it!

Just need to sort some GAP, burn lots of MP3 CD's from iTunes, borrow a manual from dealer suspend my current AA for 3 years and shift a few bits in the garage so it fits in!

I've already given them the HFT service buletin and asked for the filler cap spring fix, but couldn't find a pic of it although I searched. unless anyone has direct link to the photo of it or buletin reference?

Once I have the new car (can't decide on name!) I shall do some before and after shots of old vs new!

I've also added the sports gear knob as think the current one is poor compared to the rest of the car, and or course the blue ambient lighting! (along with free mats and flaps!)

I drove 75 miles to 3 different dealers... but it was worth it..!

just need to update Avtar from Dreaming to Ordered! Woo HOO!!!

MAny thanks to all in their help in the buying thoughts and loads of other things to look out for and know, and no doubt I'll have more questions once I get it!

Cheers
Mr C

Mr C (ISUHE)

Hope your finances work out ok and that the Space Ship docks on time.

The EX bit is ok but I prefer the petrol myself.

Loads of guys on here would disagree tho'!

You're gonna have so much fun in June.

grrr royal mail :)

I'm not waiting for the dealer at the moment as so far no probs but only been on order for 3 days! I've not hand any post since fri, and now its wed so 3 says with nothing which is unusal so I've reported to Royal Mail and also done to test sends from 2 work locations hoping that they'll turn up.
Untill I get important letter through I can't get car as not enough money!
If no mail tomorrow then I will not be amused.

Hoping RM will deliver something tomorrow...

silly solicitor!

ok so its not Royal mail's fault the silly solicitor got address wrong for letter so now got letter etc and will be in position to get car from thursday onwards
Spoke to dealer today and still same ETD (& june +/- 2 days)

Question : from ariving at dealers how long do you think it would take them to do PDI (hopefull valet!) install blue ambient lighting and mats and flaps and gear knob??? surely no more than 3/4 of a day?
so hope to get fri / sat round 7-9th june.
starting to get excitied now!

Already borrowed manual and read mostly cover to cover - now to do it again so it sinks in!

reading and driving is bad kids...

well I still will have to read the sat nav manual as not got a copy of that at the moment. But when I get it (hopefully within a week) I don't want to have to spend too long reading it and more time piloting it!

BTW does anyone have eric in their car phone book?!

Cheers

in the manual it always refers to the person you are calling / storing in phone book as Eric. my thought it possibly a more uncommon name so just on the off chance that enyone had an Eric in their phonebook?!

nearly there!

I had a nice phone call yesterday from my dealer - my car had arrived on a transporter 3 days early! so it just needs mats flaps blue lighting and gear knob adding and PDI and taxing etc. I've asked to collect Thursday afternoon bu the dealer said it should be ok with parts - surely these should have been ordered and doesn't most parts come overnight?

I can't think that it would take them more than a day to PDI fit blue lights and flaprs? I'm leaving work at 2:30 to get it!
The excitement is srtarting tobuidly but think it will hit wednesday night!

Cheers to all

Taxed accessories and valetted!

Spoke to dealer , it was just being valetted at the time I was told, and virtually ready for collection!

I just have to wait anouther 20 hours before I can collect it as getting it thursday lunch.

The ETD was 7 June and so far spot on! Photos etc when I've landed!

Hi Chris - didn't really understand that bit.....did you mean you had a quote from Honda insurance for replacing your existing insurance or you had to pay for the 7day drive away deal?

I'm hopefully picking up on Saturday. Just praying my insurance docs from Norwich Union come through in time (and the finance is sorted, although less worried as if Northern Rock delay any longer I can get an instant arrangement with my bank).

Also, are you paying the balance (or paid the balance) using a debit card? I'm planning to but don't know if I should check with the dealer first that this is okay. I know I paid for the deposit that way, but that was only £300!

Honda provided 7 days free insurance on your new car. But when you phone them to set it up, they give you a quote for 12 months cover as well, which is usually a fair amount more than your existing insurance company.

to get the 7 day drive away cover you have to go through getting quote for general car insurance from honda / zurich. The quote was silly, but no intention of using it. so my current insurance for old car not effected.
I have taken out the free 7 day insurance to get the car taxed etc and then in the following week from thur will change my existing insurance to my new car.
only 14 hours to go!

I paid by debit card and they just had to make a phonecall to the bank where I had to confirm my name address DOB and 2 letters of my mothers maiden name. Sounds simple but their card machine broke and they had to find another one and go through it all twice!
