As much as I like the jazz now I don't think anyone would give it the same reaction as that. My son said "I told you not to get the jazz! lol
Very wise TC! I currently have a Jazz as a courtesy car while my Civic is having the bonnet resprayed (stone chips) and there is no comparison.

The Jazz is a very well made and competent car, but it is very dull compared to the Civic. I also have a few other gripes about the Jazz; I keep banging my head getting things out of the boot, you have to remove the rear headrests to fold down the seats and the boot is still quite small - I don't know how you squeeze 2 dogs in there
It is not bad to drive but a little slow (I have the 1.4) but the gearstick is also much too low for me. Stick with the Civic!!!!

Do you hear that Broders, obviously not the same people that filled out the JD Survey

Pjelsworth - I haven't actually tried to put my two dogs in the boot of the Jazz, maybe I will try next time I have one, I rarely take them out in the car anyway as they get car sick and they seem to be worse in the Civic

If Which had got their sums right they will have noticed that that was the case but the little Space Ship's seem to be flowing off the lines now with faults that are down to zero!

Hi Topcat

I've currently got a Jazz loan car from Ruislip. I thinks its the 1.0 litre. As you say, its very light to drive but absolutley no accleration and a strangley stiff feel to steering. Looks very boring after the Civic. I don't think I would buy one these in preference to say a Mercedes A class for instance. Its very cheap inside although well made. I think you would be mad to buy one in preference to the Civic despite all the problems you've had, although a sporty one would be interesting drive.

The 1.4 Sport is much nicer to the basic 1.2 Jazz and the boot is much bigger than the Merc A class

I have a '52 Jazz 1.4SE and a Type R-GT

They are totally different cars (although you all knew that already!) and both have thier pros and cons.

I've had the Jazz for a year and a half and apart from the fact that is yellow and my wife has hung a glitterball from the rearview mirror I have only two gripes with it.

1. The audio system is very basic (the SE is the mid-range model) and I was compelled to buy and iPod interface / cradle from Connects2 / Brodit as the cassette player was unbearable. The sound for a standard unit is not too bad although I'm no great expert on the subject.

2. The EGR valve failed and needed replacing (free of charge) when it was four years old. The EGR valve is part of the exhaust system (I think) and was / is prone to failure.

These issues aside, I feel that the performance, comfort and practicality are excellent. It also sips petrol and I have a heavy right foot. The turning circle is excellent - far tighter than the Type R although the car is a lot slower to turn than the Civics.

I am a lot less anxious about leaving the Jazz places and the 'stress-free' feeling I get is woth an awful lot to me.

The Type R is significantly more comfortable and performs, well, yes - it performs. It also drinks petrol when it is (frequently) pushed.

I was gutted for a few days when the drivers door got dented after two days of ownership and cannot bring myself to get it repaired as I could not face going through that feeling again.

There is a lot more 'car' with the Type R and I would never swap it for a Jazz but having the luxury of two cars I really can appreciate both.

I just had a Jazz 1.2 on loan, an 07 plate, it even has electric folding mirrors, and god I wish my civic went over speed cushions as smoothly as that Jazz.
Not fast enough and I found it very unstable braking hard on lorry grooves, though not as bad as the Yaris.
But at the end of the day its womans car, I felt very self concious dashing down the M4 at 75mph, sorry but its is not a motorway cruiser, if you only drive in town and have some privacy glass fitted then perhaps its ok.

I had a similar Jazz on a 2 day loan recently, and was impressed how smooth the drive was, on roads and over speed humps. It seriously lacked any oomph though, so I guess was a 1.2. Thankfully I only have a small daily trip on the A1 so it was a bearable commute.
