Depends what you really want/need. As Civie says, you have the options of bigger wheels. You also have various bodywork mods to choose from. Interior lights, garnishes, leather etc.
You also have practical things, like spacesaver wheels, reversing camera. Check out www.honda-access.com for a full list. |

I would recommend the reverse parking sensors (or, since you're going for an EX, you have the option of the reversing camera.)
Also, I'm a fan of the glass roof - although this came as standard on my Type S GT |

Why they put such a huge markup on everything is beyond me. I mean - take the protection strips, which I believe are just colour-coded strips of rubber which are stuck to the car. I figured these may be £150ish which is still expensive but worth it, but I was quoted £400 to have it as an option!! My girlfriend has some magnetic 'ding-guards' from when she had a Ford StreetKa and these are basically cushioned strips which you attach to the car if you are parked in an carpark with tight spaces...I'll just use this I think. £400 is ridiculous (imo) |

We went for reverse park sensors (rear visibility really is quite bad imho) and a spare wheel and mats.
The dealer fitted locking wheel nuts foc too (that's a glaring omission from the spec by Honda I'd say). We considered the protection mouldings but concluded that our previous cars have all been damaged by careless / thoughtless people in car parks despite having mouldings so what's the point (especially at the eye-watering prices). - and I'm paranoid about how/where I park too. Also (to be boring) you need to think whether there'll be any residual value in your options when you come to sell the car, I suspect that some of the more esoteric options might not count for much when you trade it in ? |

A couple of things to think about regarding the options.
Most of the options are dealer fit - except things like glass roofs/leather/satnav etc. So the delivery time shouldn't be affected by adding on options like e.g. parking sensors Secondly, when considering the cost of any options you may be able to negotiate a discount on the list price for them, or get some thrown in for free. As an example of this, I didn't pay for the spare wheel, mudflaps, carpet mats and locking wheelnuts - a total of (from memory) £315. A lot of the options available may not add value to the car when you come to sell it - but they may make the car more saleable |

The reason for the conversation came about because several of us have had situations where the locking wheel key went missing or wasn't supplied with the (used) car but wasn't picked up at the time and this caused problems when a puncture happened. The conclusion was that locking wheel nuts nowadays are not necessarily the critical thing they were once, and this could be why Honda do not include in standard spec. Just a theory |

options:
18" wheels - a must sat nav - really is very good, but is also a lot of money... interior blue lights - very funky rear parking sensors - very useful, but again, can be done DIY a LOT cheaper rear parking camera - fantastic toy (only available with Sat Nav though), but very recently has also been turned into a DIY job bassworks - avoid, and spend the money on a proper upgrade instead afterwards sunroof / leather - personal choice (but again, leather is available later on as an aftermarket job whatever you choose, you will love it (except the bassworks |

Leather is not available where I live..
Sounds like I should go for standard audio (& aftermarket upgrade), sat nav, parking sensors & blue interior lighting. Might go with the co-axial front upgrade. I really wonder how well the camera works in the winter with dirt and snow and stuff... Does the rear Civic badge come off? / FWH |

Leather is an absolute necessity if you have pets as the standard seats seem sticky almost like a suedette or nubuck feel. Some members have complained they look old quick but others dont have a problem, depends how much time you want to spend on hoovering the interior LOL.
I have the city pack (which was FOC due to a mess up with the delivery) and think it makes the car stand out as does the image pack ... the city pack also includes parking sensors. I would like the camera at a later date but worry I would be looking at that and catch the side of the car. I also have a spare wheel also FOC |

So getting the roof as well might make it seem cheaper. Must put the blue LED's inside, very cheap, very fab! "If the sign outside a restaurant says 'Cusine' expect the prices to be high. Charles H.If the sign says 'Food' it will generally be moderately priced. If the signs says 'Eats' your medical bills could be higher!" |

Yes,
I think I will order the "executive" version in NHB which has sat-nav, glass roof and most other goodies. Will add the blue footwell lighting and rear parking sensors and upgrade the audio with aftermarket parts. Leather is not (yet) available in Sweden, but I have a wood & leather interior in my other car, so I will probably survive without it. (Yes, the grand prix body kit and 18" storms look great, but you have to draw the line somewhere....) or do you? / FWH |
