I got aprox 10% off the total of std car + options.
Don´t know if that is good. Probably varies between markets (countries) also. I think the sat nav (that screen also enhandes other function like audio and air con) really adds to the car. As far as I know the I-pod thingy is still the same. I did not get it, mp3s on CDs is pretty good. |

We are certainly not professionals here. Every stealer seems to work to margins that suit them and their current selling rate (cars per month) Phone round as many stealers as poss. and chat them up on th phone. One of them will crack when they sniff your coinage approaching. All of your questions above could be just quoted to the stealer. They DO want your money. i have 2 dealers located within a few miles of where i live. but i cant afford to go any further really for time reasons. so i was planning on bartering between them for certain things. which ive been told to do. setting one dealership off against another. what i was looking for information on, was if anyone managed to get any extras for free or a big reduction. im currently looking at getting the leather interior and the connect pack which includes, the blutooth kit, elegance mats, doorstep garnish, and blue ambient lighting.
like i say just wondering if anyone got these for free or a large reduction on them. or if anyone could give me an example of what deal they got price wise and price wise on extras. thanks alot. |

I have an EX and I got a fair price for my Focus ST170, I got £1500 off the list price with mats thrown in and they paid the private plate transfer (80 quid).
After some major mistakes with delivery dates I also got spare wheel and city pack added FOC. If you want the sat nav & HFT you will need to get the EX not ES personally I think it's worth the extra grand or so as you get 17" wheels/HID's/Sat Nav/Voice control/HFT a lot for the money IMO. Also you may read that many people have problems with HFT and voice control but Ive had it a month and although you have to say the EXACT phrase I've never had a problem with it recognising me and I have a very strong bristolian/west country accent. I also have leather and think it gives the car a touch of extra class. Also I thought and have read on here that the cloth looks tired after a while. As everyone else says it seems the IPOD adapter is a waste of money and you're much better off burning a load of MP3 cd's |

Agee with Obo. Go for the EX. Have been told Honda don't discount the cars and this keeps up the resale value - compared with Citroen that does discount and then residuals drop through the floor. I either got a fab trade in and £500 off the list price or mediocre trade in and full list. Its all down to the amount you need to add to the trade in. Go to the autotrader web site and look at the used car prices. This will give you an idea of what yours is worth. O

Oh an a final thing...WATCH THE FINANCE DEAL. I was offered a great deal and I left my savings alone thinking I would be a bit better off with the finance. I would have been but for the small print which required me to add to the final payment about £125. That amount wasn't included in the payment schedule and was cleverly hidden in the small print. Watch the 'sting in the tail' [It wasn't Honda Finance - so that might be better].

Don't forget that you can ring up the stealers that you can't actually get to just to get them 'involved' in the deal. You don't have to buy, just get a little more ammo! "A man with a watch always knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure!" Charles H. |
