Confused by different Specs

Hi. Im looking at purchasing a Ctdi but the model line up is seriously confusing! Im basically after something quite sporty looking with the 18" rims and the lower suspension. Is there any difference between a Type S and a sport? Or am I better off trying to find a higher spec model with the bigger wheels? By the way, Im looking for a used one and not a new one.

It depends what you are looking for the Type S was a new model released in march this year with uprated suspension and bodykit etc but it only comes in a 3 door. The sport is from the 5dr line up and as far as Im aware the suspension etc is common on all the 5dr models, so if you are after a used model you will probably be looking at the sport, ES or EX (depending on budget) as there arent many used Type S’s about.

Im going from a DC5 Integra type R to one of these ctdi civics, so I want it to look as sporty as possible but it needs to be a 5 door. So it looks as if its going to be a sport.

Where are you?
The specs vary in different countries.

Doubt if there are many stealers on the IOW!

Might make the finding of a suitable one a little difficult!

Hope you succeed in your quest anyway.

Best of luck there!

There is a Stealer on the Island but Im gonna take a trip over to the mainland to look at some more anyway. The Honda dealers over here (northwood) were quite helpful when I was looking at the accord 2.2 ctdi .But So as long as its not 100's of miles away I dont mind a bit of a trip .

That's the idea!

You are intending to spend a few bob on a very lovely Space Ship.

To be able to compare wirth a few others could be very rewarding.

As I said, best of luck.

Hope you get your Space Ship soon.

Unfortunately, the 5dr Sport is just a name in the line up - there is nothing about it which makes it more sporty looking than any other 5dr

check out the Wiki in here for more details about what is standard on each spec

And bear in mind that Honda will only allow you to go 'up' one wheel size when ordering a new car - so from 16" standard to 17".
But if you buy one (or more to the point, if the original owner bought one) with 17" wheels, they could be speced up to 18"

Actually, I think the Sport does look more sporty than the SE and ES because of the 17" wheels and HID lights, especially if you get it in the right colour - Milano Red, Vivid Blue, or NHB.

Look on autotrader there are some good models there but be prepared to travel , i got my 2.2 cdti ex, second hand , private sale ,it was only 6 months old i paid £14200 for it and it only had 18000 miles on the clock which is nothing for a diesil and you know that the engine has been warmed up to but i had to travel to preston to get it which is about 185 miles form where i live in bristol but it was well worth it

Just curious: how much does a Civic Type S 1.8 (probably called "GT" in the UK) with all options except satnav cost in the UK?

In Holland, this car costs € 31,000 (or 20,865 Pounds) on the road. The exact same car is € 5,000 cheaper in Germany and even € 7,000 in Belgium... The reason: from that 31,000 euros, 64.2 % (or € 19,902 -> 13,397 pounds) is TAX!

You may wonder why I didn't buy my car in Germany or Belgium instead. Well, I could have. But to get Dutch license plates and registration to make the car legal for Dutch roads, you must still pay these taxes at the border...

In the UK, a standard Type S GT 1.8 is £16277, metallic paint is £375, Sat Nav is £1400. They are the main options that are listed.
Then there is a long list of accessories like spoilers, iPod adaptors etc
