i-shift test drive

hi
going for an extended test drive in the i-shift, what are the things i should look to try, what problems/faults have other i-shift owners found. knowing what you now know would you have bought the i-shift.
i have a focus auto at present, which except for the fuel consumption, it is fine. i have had a short test drive of the leon with the dsg gearbox, which i thought was superb, no noticeable gearchange. i have also had a short test of the i-shift where i found i was waiting for the lurch from first to second. did others notice this and do you still notice it after driving over a longer period.
thanks

If you are going to use the paddles or stick to shift gears, try using the throttle as in a manual car, easing the throttle when you change gear. It makes progress a lot smoother. Try to anticipate junctions and roundabouts, get the car in the right gear just as you arrive at them.

It seems to be generally acknowledged that it isn't as good as a DSG box, and that some people don't get on with it. But try to remember that it's not a proper auto box, but a manual box with an automatic clutch.

Enjoy the test drive

I've got the i-Shift, and I reckon it's fab.

But I am an old man, not a street racer!

I suggest that you drive like always, and then if necessary adjust your driving style.

I, as far as I know, did not do any adjusting.

Me and Millie just clicked.

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.

Wouldn't change it for any thing!

When I first drove i-Shift, there was a huge delay in upward changes, like 1.5 secs, which was presumably why the originally quoted 0-60 time was considerably slower than the manual.
Now the quoted times are much closer and as publised here, modifications have been made from the 06 version.
I will ask my dealer for another test drive to check this out.
I currently drive a 1.8 manual.
Regards
Tony

Considerably slower?

10.4 as against 8.9?

We don't all enter the traffic light grand prix.

The overall driving pleasure that you get from the i-Shift easily overcomes them there figures.

Well, if you want to be boy racer from traffic light to traffic light, i-SHIFT is not for you.
If you like relaxed drive in city, and sometimes a bit faster drive on open roads, i-SHIFT is perfect for that.
