Question HID in Civic Sport 1.8?

Hello everyone

I'm waiting to receive my Civic Sport 1.8 this July and I was wondering - on Polish Honda pages, as on my dealer pages, couldn't find any information about HID - Xenon lights.

On Civinfo Wiki is an information that HID is standard since '07 in Sport.

Is that true?

Maybe I should do some research about how Honda Poland is 'defining' the "Sport" version of Civic...

Best regards,
Christopher

Hello Jean-Luc,

First of all welcome to the forums. Second, I'm afraid your car will probably not have HIDs. Seems that only the UK Sport models have them and left hand drive, mainland Europe models do not. Here in Finland we only get HIDs with our EX model. (And Type-R GT)

You can easily replace your standard bulbs (or have them replaced for you) with whiter, brighter bulbs if you want them to look like more like Xenons.

There's been some discussion whether aftermarket HIDs, or Xenons, are legal or not. They are widely available, but in many countries not actually permitted by law. So make sure to check their legality before going ahead and buying a conversion kit.

Is this right - the Finnish Type-R GT has HIDs? If so would the carbon fibre style dash from that be a better replacement for those of us with HIDs than the UK Type-R dash?

but the key questions are - in Finland, which which side is the steering wheel (), and does the R-GT have HIDs - ie no headlight adjuster knob (and therefore no headlight adjuster hole)?

And back to the original question - the specs change from country to country.
So while a UK sport has HIDs, one in Finland may or may not

We don't have a GT spec here... Ours are named Type-R and Type-R Plus

Our Type-R Pluses do have HIDs as standard.

And ours are LHD, so that would presumably be a problem.

From the pictures that I've seen, the wheel is indeed on the other side with LHD cars, but it's still in the middle of the drivers side of the dash - basically, the dash surround looks the same irrespective of which side of the car it's on.

But the buttons are on the opposite sides eg the start button is on the left and the air con buttons on the right, it's the other way round on a RHD UK civ

What I meant to say was the dash type was the same but reversed for LHD cars! Thanks TT and Obo!

In Croatia it is not possible to get HID's for 'Sport' model.
This is reason why I opted for Executive which has it. On a good note, glass roof is great!

in europe i think that sport doesn't have HID's like in UK (all models are different in europe then in UK)....but in germany you can order it about 1800€.....for example in italy there isn't vivid blue colour for civic....

My 1.8 Sport came with HID's.
I think they're standard on all german Sports.

In Holland, HID is an extra on all models except the Type R.

I'm anxiously awaiting my new Civic 1.8 Type S, the three-doors model. It will have all options (incl. "Advantage package"), but except satnav. Delivery is scheduled to take place between 9 and 12 July.
