1.8 is good, but 2.2 diesel is both economical and has better acceleration. I would not have anything other than the 2.2 or a TypeR in petrol. As I need 5 seats and 5 doors, the TypeR is out.

Console youself that the petrol is cheaper to run.
Cheaper to buy. Cheaper to insure. Cheaper to service (make sure you pay the £500 for 5 years service, this saves about £500). Sounds terrific. Drives terrifc. You run out of steam at 7000rpm not 4000rpm. 48 mpg on a long x country run at ave. speed 36mph. No brainer, you've made the right choice. BTW I test drove the diesel several times and really liked it. Regards Tony |

I was told that if you do less than 20-22000 miles a year the petrol engine is cheaper to run when you take servicing into account, also check if you can have the Honda happiness servicing deal (£500 up front for the first 5 years servicing).
Whichever engine you choose, you can be sure it will be quick, you just have to drive differently. |

I hate diesels becuase even the ones that are claimed to be good (like VAG and PSA) are noisy, smelly and rattle too much, and said I would never have another one after the unreliability and thirst of my Volvo D5.
Then I drove the 2.2 Honda diesel! At last a diesel engine that just works, none of this "quiet for a diesel" or "goes well for a diesel" apologies, it's just simply a great engine. I get 48mpg without trying and my engine is only 600 miles old and on the open road you only use 5th or 6th |

Well i we picked ours up yesterday
The sound of the petrol is AWESOME and the power is both smooth and tunefull, i simply love the sound at higher revs and it certainly causes people to stare when you back off at high revs lol. The power in each gear is incredible its not the neck snapping power of the diesal but the build up is tremendous and i am loving it The drive is beautiful and the brakes are fantastic, so happy with our Civic No complaints at all, this is one happy Panda. |

Went to look at our new car yesterday at the stealers, only to be told that I've got to wait till Friday to collect it now, instead of Wednesday, cos there were a couple of little issues I wanted sorting.
I'm so jealous of you!! Cannot wait to get hold of my i-Vtec! |
