Finally Ordered! :)

Firstly sorry for the lack of posts on here since i joined several months ago. Back in May, two days before I was going to place my order I had a nasty accident on the motorway on my way to work. A white van undercut me in the inside lane and decided to pull out before it had cleared my car. I swearved to avoid the van but ended up loosing control of my car and rolling it several times down the embankment. Miraculously I got out without even a scrath. I then had to wait for my insurance to class my car as write off before I could consider placing my order. Although since the accident i have been thinking about replacing my 05 Astra SXI with the same as it saved my life. But then after 6 months of setting my heart on the Civic i knew I would be dissapointed if I didn't get the Civic!

Anyway I have now placed my order for a 2.2 Civic Type S GT with SAT NAV/HFT in Vivid Blue. With added options of auto dimming rear view mirror, parking sensors and colour coded spoiler.

Foggy69 and Boyjammer I have been admiring your pics and say that the colour coding certainly makes the car look even better. I showed a pic to the dealer and he thought it was the Type R kit on there!! Anyway they have quoted me £1000 to have mine sprayed. They said that as it had a rough finish to it it would all need to be sanded first. When I get the car I will get some quotes, hopefully looking to get it done for £500.

Estimeted delivery time is first week of August so I have decided I am going to wait till Sept for collection and be one of the first Civics with a 57 plate. Although will be hard waiting those last 3 weeks when I know i could already be driving it!!

I must say thanks for all the posts on this forum it has certainly helped with preparing to buy the car. I went to quite a few different dealers armed with the drivethedeal price, two would match the price (one being Bristol) but my local dealer wouldn't. After reading a few dealer reveiws on here about Bristol and from own experience I decided to leave them out of the equation. They advised me it would be a special order with 20 week wait, when my local dealer gave me the Honda print out saying 6 weeks! Few days later they email me saying time is running out. I emailed them back asking what they meant and if there sales targets were low this month and havent had a reply! Anyway after a bit of negotiating skills i manage to get my local dealer to be within £250 of drivethedeal so i'm basically getting the £1400 SAT NAV for free. Can't complain at that!

Sorry for such a long post and I am aware this should of probably be split up into different posts but was easier to say it all in one go!

Mk

Sorry to here about the accident. Life would be sooo much better on the roads without the 'White Van Man'.

It's nice to hear our cars are causing confusion at the dealers, but it sounds like they were impressed
As for the painting, the dealer is correct about the finish. If you don't sand the plastic it won't look very good, so make sure that you ask any paint shop to do that.
And of course, enjoy the car once you get it

Congrats on your order! I have today ordered my 2.2 ES in NHB + Leather + Parking Sensors and 17" Penta Design alloys. It too is due to arrive first week of September; its going to feel like a very long wait indeed!

They have the same engines as the 5 door, so they are not blisteringly fast like the Type R, but they reasonably quick.
8.6 sec to 60 in the diesel
8.9 sec to 60 in the petrol
Not to shabby
