Injector Cleaner

Has anyone used an injector cleaner on a diesel and witnessed a positive /negative effect (emission test etc)? If so what products have you used and what was the approx cost?

I have always recommended injector cleaners on petrol engines after seeing the immediate effects and response after applying a treatment.

Whatever the treatment it must be as supplied to the trade and not the useless rip off stuff you get in your local motor factors (which even some garages use) as these are usually totally ineffective (as with most additives).

Yes most certainly I have . Prior to the Civic I ran a Pug 405 SRDT for some 14 years from new. When it failed the MOT emissions test on one occasion I filled the fuel tank, added a can of WURTH saBesto Diesel Additive. then took a short trip down the M way, got the engine really hot with plenty of accelerator in the lower gears. I could actually see the improvement taking place as the black smoke gradually reduced to zero. From then on this was my annual practice at MOT time. I have also used one of the diesel injector cleaners from that well known motor store with similiar success. At £10 a 300ml can the WURTH was not cheap but very effective.

I'm a fond fan of Liqui Moly products, and they do a Diesel System Cleaner from their Pro-Line range. You might want to consider the Engine Flush too, for when you're next changing your oil.
Speak with Mark on 01945 410918, telling him Phil in Belfast told you he'd look after you.
I've also come across another brand of products, and once I've had a chance to discuss things further with them and sample their wares, I'll provide the details (and member discount code via PM) in due course.

Forte is another one that the Vauxhall dealers have a contract with, and use routinely as part of the annual/six monthly service schedule, and whom Mark used to work for before setting up LMT Ltd. for the mainland LM distribution.

If you've no idea who Liqui Moly are, all you need to know is they were a major sponsor for Jordan F1 for 2-3 seasons before Eddie sold up to Midland Racing or whomever is was.
A number of their engine oils (part of a very extensive range) are now recommended by the 3 main German manufacturers - VW, MB, and BMW.

Ramsey, you'd get similar experience without the aditive.
Everyone should head to some motorway and give it a bit to 'clean' the engine. This goes especially for diesels.

Thanks for that Nick7, never really thought about doing that, anyway it's all over now as I have gone over to petrol.

By the way, has anyone heard from the originator of this thread ?
