Buying decision
Hi Everyone,
I've just discovered this discussion group and wondered if anyone could give me some advice? I'm about to replace my company car with something more modest, economical, environment-friendly and sporty, and I would be most grateful if anyone could give me a resumé of the advantages of the Civic diesel 2.2 ES versus, say, the Golf Sport Tdi or Volvo C30 or BMW 1 di... or similar. I've taken the Civic for a weekend test drive and was very impressed overall (the local dealer couldn't have been more helpful). The Volvo and Golf were also very impressive, but on paper are slightly inferior. I would welcome your ideas/suggestions. Best wishes, Peter |

Why buy anything else, the others are rubbish
Opps, sorry but we are a bit biased here. The interior of the Civic makes anything else look boring and old fashioned. The exterior of the Civic makes anything else look boring and old fashioned. The diesel engine is one of the best around. It makes the VW lump sound positively agricultural. Buying the Golf makes it look like you can't make your own decision, you have to follow the flock. Buying a BMW 1 will make people think you can't afford a real one. The Volvo does look like a great car, but I seem to remember it was expensive compared to a Civic. |

I thoroughly agree with that man Foggy69.
But may I suggest the 1.8. ......don't forget it only comes in Red! "I have my standards. They might be low, But I have them!" Charles H. |

Hi,
There is a thread called something like "what other cars were you considering..", this may contain some interesting info for you. I looked at the BMW 1-series myself, but to get the same performance and equipment as in a 1,8 Executive (thats satnav, glass roof, HIDs) etc it would have been close on 50% more expensive. We have too many Volvos over here in Sweden. I want to be different. I really liked the old rear wheel drive Volvo boxes, but with this new stuff they have you can just as well buy a Jap car. Having said that the C30 styling is one of the best for a while to come from Volvo. Never considered a Golf. Don´t know why. Just borings-ville Arizona to me. |

The way I see it is that there is no perfect car.
You will have some dislikes about any car. And all manufacturers make the odd lemon. But for the money the Civic is the coolest thing you can get and it is still practical and easy on the fuel. And we have the best forum! |

Been in the same position as yourself, i test drove the Seat Leon, Golf, and looked at the Volvo C30! I picked the 2.2EX Diseal and mightely impress with the car. Comfy seats, sat nav, and above a great car with loads of extra's for a decent cost per month.
I would seriously say to get a Civic and join civinfo.com! I drive 40,000 mile per year and have done just over 35,000 in 9 months and feel at home in my car! Its the best car i've driven and will never change from Honda! |

Of course
It also comes in Vivid Blue. ......there are not so many sold in that colour, so the delivery will be shorter! Anyway second best isn't too bad. "Never try and keep up with the Jones's. It's cheaper to bring them down to your level!" Charles H. |
